Hi from Cancun, Mexico

Hi hi from my first proper vacation in a very long time.  Looking forward to … rest. Don’t know if I’ve ever blogged such an admission.

I’ve been averaging about 3 hours of sleep a night; needed this. It took a lot to get here, and didn’t really even hit me I was gone till this morning when I woke up to a different view.

I do sleep deprivation pretty well, I kinda even like it; things get all dream-like and fuzzy, everything gets funnier.

Had to buy a bathing suit. Because I hide from the sun, why would I own one.

But somewhere between that dressing room pic and checkout, the bottoms disappeared, so I’m here on the beach without a suit.

Deadlines won over the nail salon, so I peeled off the shellac, and I think I ruined nails; don’t do it.

Full hair and makeup in the back of the taxi.

New luggage was purchased the night before, and I just sent my jumpsuit downtown to be hemmed.

Next week’s ‘Keri on Driving’ column came from the airport, and 30,000 feet in the air.

Took me many months, but I’ve got a system down now. Helps that I always keep the “my column” application open and running in my mind’s background, and a text list on my phone.

Look at me changing it up.

I’ve been smashed on a plane once, and never will I again.

Actually, whenever you see me out at an event, there’s a 99% chance I’m fake drinking, which I have down to a science. (surely by now you’ve figured out I’m a control freak).

At Mexican customs, the system is: speak with a customs officer, then baggage claim, and then another officer who is positioned beside a big red button. Everyone must push the button, and it’s like a casino game – get a green light and you’re free to go, get a red light and take your bag over to be searched and questioned. Guess what colour I got :|

It’s a ridiculously nice hotel, look at the soaps.

You know Bulgari is my favourite.

The boy really killed it at work the past year, so work sent him away with the other top hustlers, nice.

Hoping to make it to visit the Mayan ruins, especially that it’s so close in time to a huge planetary alignment on June 5.

Kay I have to revise my column for next week (“going to the racetrack”), plus a couple more things and then I can shut it down. I’ll power up ye ‘ole blog again Wednesday when I’m back in country, TTY then.

I Want Blackberry to Win This One – the Z10

One of Canada’s favourite companies just completed their launch of their new phone and OS –  introducing the Blackberry Z10. I followed the launch along from start to now, thanks to TELUS who invited me.

The launch party in Toronto.

Whomever was in charge of the party crushed the guest list; that was a quality crowd.

Got to see many old social media faces and friends, from the good ‘ole days 2009-11-ish.

See how the keyboard is predicting what I’m typing? Once you get the hang of it, ahhh the efficiency.

(see my cell phone history here)

It plays Flash! & HTML5

Parental controls, nice.

Security note – the default of NFC is “on”. Turn it off immediately #security

NFCNear Field Communication. Pass files between phones without touching. (this blog post touches on it, here and start at the Charlie Miller part)

Then, it was off to TELUS HQ for a Z10 learning session.

I was pretty pumped for this event because, because at that time I was into researching how to move ‘contacts & calendar’ files among iPhone / BB / Android… BUT, move it withOUT using the cloud.

A – Nope.  Have to use the cloud.

However, TELUS has half the problem solved… it’s a cabled solution, available in each of their retail stores; port contacts from phone to phone, but not calendar.

(here’s the video)

Good luck, Blackberry!
Your new phone is beautiful, you got this,
& Canada’s still behind you cheering you on xo

A Quick Update of Liiiiife

I know I’ve been quiet lately on social media, it’s because I have so much going on woah.

In no particular order:

En route to dinner Friday night. That was jogging pants to dinner ready in 20 minutes. My thinking is to just wear fishnets and fur, and I’ll fit in anywhere fancy.

It was quite a fancy meal actually, look at my dessert all arranged beautifully.

That was the only one I took though; taking photos of my food feels so dbag-ish.

Spent a huge chunk of time online with Charlotte recently, here we are troubleshooting Picasa.

A great first test for us, which we passed, which was not easy.

We hacked up a work around, and now she can add photos to my KeriBlog Google account. Very important, because the alternative isn’t one – share my Gmail password? Never.

Been driving a lot lately, no destination, just enjoying driving, a favourite pastime always.

Remember ‘Morning Drive‘? Try it, especially now that the weather has turned.

Studio milestone!

That’s miles, too; my car is American (that’s 279,060 km)

Had to go shopping, well, I call it “buying”.

And YA buddy, I’ve wanted a jumpsuit for like, 3 years. A jumpsuit!

Vaughn Mills Outlet Mall, almost always. Plus there’s always good car sightings in the parking lot.

Kay that’s it for now. Well there’s more, but no time, no tiiiiime.

Leave it with me guys, I think this is going to work out, and before long this ‘ole blog will be updated daily with lots. Debating only Monday-Friday though. We’ll see.

I’m taking this with my toe.

It Should Not be Thursday Already

It’s alarming me how fast weeks are passing. 2013 is 1/3 done. Oh time.

There was a lunar eclipse this afternoon, a full moon tonight, plus it’s Thursday night, best night of the week.  Things are gearing up for a big planetary alignment on June 5th, plan accordingly.

In less etheral news, I’ve booked a lot of travel for May = Mexico, Alberta & Oregon. Alberta to test the fully-refreshed Ford F150 Pickup truck wait, gets better, in Dinosaur Park. And it’s off with Acura to the winding roads of Oregon, for their MDX, a 7-seater SUV.

I’m behind on posting my columns, I will this weekend, because I really want you to read the pedestiran one. And the security one, obs.

At the risk of jinxing myself, starting Saturday my possible-new-assistant and I are sitting down to plan a week-long test of working together. I’m very excited. Tonight I made us a calender, and started a spreadsheet entitled; ‘Blog Post DRAFTS”, it’s 50 deep.

Below I am making said shared calendar. Sharing. Lessening control. Oh boy, guys.

Hope you too had a good Thursday night.  I finished all my jobs by 9, then jogging pants on and a quiet creative stuff only night, no work.

One thing I did was modify a Yada baby monitor Canadian Tire kindly sent me, and made it a new, more solid tripod system.

I’m going to stick it in my car then tada, my ’99 Jetta now has a backup camera / spy cam.

And I daydreamed and made notes & lists. And now there’s sticky notes everywhere, and I feel better. I have to have daydream & alone time, or I start to lose it.

What daydream & alone-time looks like.

Hand over mouth, always.

The turning point for this KeriBlog nonsense has never been closer guys.  I have a lot of irons here, there and around, and some seem like they’re about to kick off… if I can just get it just right… I think so.

Thanks for always checking in,

Love,
Keri

Look how hard I’m trying to eat better.

See that there? A bottle of spice.

I love ports.

I am wiped.

Night.

I Was So Quiet this Weekend

It was a very low-key weekend, didn’t go do or talk much.

I’m so glad the internet is moving more and more to 9-5.  The pressure to be sharing and publishing 24/7 is a weird thing, ask a blogger; it can feel like a lead cape.

Been thinking and visualizing a lot about my new assistant.
How if I had one, you’d have known sooner
about important things, such as…

… how I went to the casino on Friday night.

(I love casinos. ‘Wheel of Fortune’ slots is 1/2 of my favouirte games.
‘Jacks or Better’ video poker is the other; best odds in the house)

Or that I’d attended a great Canadian Club party the night before that.

You remember Casie far right, hey you xo! Couch soon.

If I had blog help, you’d have known that I was driving a Hyundai Accent last week.

And that my Saturday night looked pretty typical of many of my Saturday nights.

You’d have known that I’d done my bi-annual buy last week.  My shopping method is solid both in execution, and value; click here.

Nice crisp new jacket eh… I’ll show you it better in another post.

Becoming so professional, me.

I also dug around in a box under my bed this weekend, and hauled out spring clothes.

Might have that shortened.

And if I had an assistant, I’d have been able to show you this beautiful sight sooner… don’t you want to smash them so bad?

They make the most beautiful sound when they smash.

If ever you’d like to get me a frivolous gift, click here.

A blog helper.

I’m excited, ready, and going to kickstart the search this week.
