As IF This Post is Dated December

And that’s 2012, guys.

Hope you had a great weekend, too.

My first real auto review comes out this week (remember the embargo?). On that topic, sorry for the lag on the blog here, I had more deadlines than usual last week.

Tomorrow, swapping out the Rogue for… a pickup truck YES.  Always wanted one.  It’s a Nissan Titan SL Crew Cab:

Broke out my winter coat. Tis the season, I turn into SpongeBob.

Had it since ’08. I went for the boxy version – lots of function / little fashion.

Bonuses are: all the pockets means, no purse till April, and it’s dramatic when my coat is open, how little I appear.

Plus I’m getting stronger – bet it weighs 7 pounds, on a normal day.

Love Bulk Barn. I’ve eaten a lot of #505.

Ladies – shellac nail polish, it’s a revolution: there’s no dry time.

The black ones are too grown out for sure, but see how there’s no chips? That’s 3 weeks.

Did my bi-annual buy.

I’ve detailed my shopping approach before – I don’t go shopping, I go buying.

And like last time, not all black, tada.

Top right – I killed at pool that night; I couldn’t miss any long shots… smash it down the table, the pocket echoes beautifully, all night long.

Here’s to a great start to your week tomorrow, 4 more left! If you’ve been thinking of starting something, now’s a good time, so in the future you can say, “Founded in 2012”.

It Was a Great Weekend Away

Good evening from West Virginia.

It’s still warm here, t-shirt and jeans warm.

Looked at some nature.

Saturday night was a great party. Played pool obviously, saw some old friends, made some new ones.

The gentleman in the centre is Sean:

Him: Were you at ShmooCon in February?
Me: Yes. Did you see the pickup truck outside that got smashed?
Him: That was MY truck!
Me: Come ON! I blogged your truck.

This was the band playing the party, Hellbound HonkeyTonk.

Saw these three keyboards.

Laughed a lot.

Am I fitting in yet?

Busy week ahead.  I have articles to write, 12 blog posts drafted here, and it’s ‘Test Fest’ in Niagara Falls… all the auto manufacturers bring their 2013 models to Niagara Falls, and auto journalists from all of Canada come to decide the ‘Car of the Year’.

Early morning flight out, I’ll be back in Toronto before noon tomorrow, TTY then.

A Blog Update about KeriBlog

Here’s stuff from the last week-ish.  I usually do these posts on Sunday, but missed this week, so in no particular order…

Did some home renovations.

It’s that thing from Ikea, it holds plastic bags. Plastic to hold plastic.

This week’s flowers.

I don’t know their name, but they’re my other carnations: colourful, hearty, and cheap.

Don’t I look grown up.

What’s happening there? I need a hair curling lesson, that looks wrong.

These were emailed to me, they are official photos from that ‘Swarovski & James Bond’ launch I attended, where 3 of my favouite things were brought together: jewellery, spy stuff and cars.

Big Keri laugh.

Been playing a lot of pool recently; it’s a pretty cyclical thing.

It could probably be charted in a bar graph, using my blog posts.

Here’s my disembodied head, stating something obvious.

It’s early to be wearing down, but I am always very cold, and woah the cold has arrived early this year.

Lots of events the second half of this week, including a tech conference, the ACC on Friday with TELUS for We Day – kids being encouraged to learn and be charitable to their community yup I can get behind that, and Thursday night is an Acura event I’ve been looking forward to.

Have a great Wednesday, see you on online!

OH! My weekly car rant, ‘Keri on Driving’, probably runs tomorrow. I wrote about dirty cars this week.

Things from My Week in Vegas

Some outfits.

I always visit the jewellery stores, one of my only material weaknesses.

This line is a favourite.

Check out the lineup to see Batman 5 days after it opened BOOM. Had the theatre to myself. Review: I loved it.

It’s the only superhero story I like, because he is a normal human who turns himself into more.

I gamble on only two games: ‘Wheel of Fortune’ slots, and video poker.  Video Poker has maybe the best odds in the casino.

Look at the purple circle first column, the rule is: you want a 9/6 machine, then an 8/5, don’t bother with anything lower.

I’m good at the latter, but really, it’s just pattern recognition.

I have in my head a whole life-strategy-is-like-video-poker-strategy-there’s-many-parrells-video in my head to make, there really are.

One of my favourite nights was Thursday Night #NotSurprising (if we are just meeting, I say it every week because it is: Thursdasy Night is the best night of the week).

That’s right, silence! It’s ridiculously hard to find here.

This is the penthouse of a casino off the strip, where check THIS out :O

How is that even possible at a casino? Where are the insurance people?

Then, oh THEN there was a pool table. I love to play pool.

And I played some of the best pool of my whole life.

I couldn’t miss. Not even being dramatic, it was Hollywood movie shots I was making happen. After one particularly amazing combo I yelled, “you guys are getting this, right?!”.  I was the zone.

And that’s it, Vegas tada the end.

Never been a fan, but I seem to always end up here; that’s 14-ish times now.  Here’s a post from last year.

Vegas, to me, is: over-the-top-over-stimulating, this shiny delusion that brings out the entitled dbag side of people, and just, excess is gross.  But it’s the world’s conference centre.  See you again soon I’m sure.

Laundry Takes You Places

Spent the morning at the laundromat. Living on the road, you end up in places you’d otherwise not.

When I pulled in, see those guys standing there?

They all waved and yelled at me, real motivated. I smiled back. Always smile, even if you are unsure what’s happening. Keep your face pleasant. That’s your security tip of today.

I put my clothes in, then went back outside to watch. Ahhhhh got it, they’re day labourers.

Basically I could drive up, say “Get in let’s go!” and in they get. Now I have a car full of willing workers.

I should return tomorrow, “hey, any of you know how to video edit? Final Cut?”

Settled in with my book.

It’s the last in Queen & Country series, ‘The Last Run‘ by my top 3 favourite authors right now, Greg Rucka, and starring spy Tara Chace.

Debated playing pool, because by now the guys outside have moved inside to the tables. I’m watching with my peripheral… there’s a good chance I’ll win, but then I’d have to talk… nah.

Then I made this animated gif, it’s a Flixel.

So cool, eh?! Even cooler – it was made in Toronto, and it’s really taking off. Get it here.

And now I’m home, well, my home for one week.

Gotta run! I have email to catch up on and a city to drive around.
