No More Curls from Olden Times

I asked Niki for a lesson.  Everytime I try, I look like, “ye ‘ole pioneer here, gonna churn some butter in these curls”.

A good (bad) example is here.

– don’t put hairspray on first, only after

– always curl away from the face

– make all curls go the same way, not alternating directions. This way, if one curl falls out, it can blend into the rest of the hair

– don’t clamp the ends of the hair between the iron, leave the ends out 1 inch or so; it will blend better

twist the hair as it goes around the barrel

– whatever the diameter of your iron, your curl section should not be bigger than that. Otherwise, only the middle is curling

– put your finger on the thickest part of the curl. When your finger gets hot, release

– once released, pull on the curl by its end, so it’s not too tight

– run your fingers through, but only when it’s cool; otherwise you’re pulling the hair straight

– not the whole bang though, just a bend is enough. Leaving them straight is, aerobics instructor circa 1983.

Tada and hello from 2012

Back to a Blonde Bob

So happy seriously SO HAPPY.

Maybe you noticed in past posts, how I cut the top of my head off in photos. That was not accidental, I abhorred my hair.

It’s because remember in July when it was breaking off, and we had to give it a rest, and do this?

Looking back on old photos, and especially when I re-built my sidebar earlier this week, woah I was missing it. 5 years I’ve had bright blonde hair.

Enough time had passed for my hair to heal itself, and today… tada!

Now things are back to normal around here.

Beautiful new machine, Brennen! 2,800km in 6 weeks huh, as it should be.

The end of September he’s headed on a road trip across the continent, and he’s going to Instagram the whole thing, follow along @BrennenDemelo or click here.

Best blonde in Toronto. Go too.

Bye Bye Bright Blonde

I’ve been platinum blonde since 2007. Now my hair is breaking off.

Brennen has done my hair for 5 years.  Here’s one of our first videos, from 2008.

It was tough to find someone during my Avoiding Winter 2012 Tour, so when in a large city I’d search out the best L’Oreal salon.  What that proved was there are no Brennens.

Brennen I don’t think it’s working, my scalp isn’t burning.

Isn’t it funny though, I’m sad over a hair colour.  And I’m not even that fashion-y; how many times have you seen me in jeans and a hat? Then I hear my sensible self: no one is shooting at you, Keri, it’s just hair.

But, BUT… it kind of is a big deal! Because I no longer have a backlog of photos of me I can use. Think about that; I just made my job harder, and I had no choice.

All right, whining done, let’s make a photo collage.

I have done this one million times since 2007, and this is a first.

It’ll fade and brighten up quite blonde again, but only with my most disliked expression: it takes time.

I suppose it’s fitting, I kind of am in ‘Round 3’ of living my life online…

  1. – The Canadian Explorer
  2. – KeriBlog
  3. – security and cars and not sure, this round just started

Kay bye now, TTYL, happy Thursday night, best night of the week!

Things From My Week

My Acura TSX has been performing great, it’s has a hidden speed and zip, very me.

Of course I took it to Cherry Beach, you know I love that place.

Watch this guy front flip over an Acura.

Also.

I went to a Lomography party at the Queen Street store.

Lomography is a world-wide big trend happening right now… it’s analogue film photography. Think like in olden times… film, developing the film, view finders….

I really like the “one take one chance” aspect, I built the Canadian Explorer around that premise, but I don’t know about the developing the film part, and remember my rant?  About HD and Tape Editing It really picks up there at the end.

The cold is coming.

Man my hair looks great Brennen, I think this is your best one yet.

I need to clean my stove.

  1. my fanciest USB key, a Swarovski lock. See it in the sidebar on my other blog (soon)
  2. that’s what we’re going to solder when we go learn how to solder next week for Keri On Security
  3. my toothbrush/lipgloss everyday purse bag. It’s NellaBella, you’d like their stuff, made here in Toronto
  4. see that larger here
  5. a Pentium I wear as a pendant
  6. tiniest Big Mac ever
  7. my camera, an Olympus Stylus Tough – you can stand on it, it’s waterproof, 12 Mpx

Outfits from this week.

Outfit from Suzy photoshoot last weekend, which I can’t wait to show you, which I’m still not allowed to, sometime in October she said.

Here’s to a great Monday and start to your week! TTYS xo
