I Love to Sew

Have since I’m very young, single digits young.

Gotta work out what to do with the sleeves.  I think the shoes on the right are more correct.

I also enjoying quilting, look:

That stitching is quite intricate, and gold, so beautiful. And just to say it, that’s a difficult pattern.

It’s made out of handkerchiefs, and NEVER again don’t do it; the material is too thin and very tough to work with.  Click here to find out why the photo of said quilt is so bad, and here to meet Andy, who I gave it quilt to.  Ahhhh the benefits of having had a blog forever, that last link is from 2008!

Oh wait!  Just had a great idea… I’m gonna go grab some embed code, one sec…

Kay – here’s the video that’s playing in the above photo…. so meta.

I recently lost my miiiiind over this song. It’s Skrillex and I’ve been OCDing out.

The break at 0:40, listen to at least that, because when have I ever blogged about music? Only once before.

Some Things

In no particular order, here we go.

I want to drive the crap outta this thing. Played cars with my 6 year old BFF, easily the kid I like the best in the world.

He mailed me a portrait recently, see how he’s really highlighting my esophagus.

Here’s my esophagus in real life last week.

Quite like this outfit I put together; you already know I love skirt pants and fanny packs.

Then I got all dramatic in my hood.

Drove many many kilometres last week, stopped in a playground along the way. Sometimes you just have to escape your car, eh.

You’ve met this pal before, James. He’d told me his latest invention moments before this was taken, and it’s one of the best online business idea I’ve heard all year.  It’s so simple.

I can’t say anything more, for obvious reasons, but we laughed hard over it, you will too. If you need to hire a solid webshop, he’s your guy.

Great photo of Casie and I.

Look how mooooody  (I did not mean for this post to be so car-centric).

I was sitting on my hood watching the stars, thinking about dogs.

One of my top three favourite places in the world is getting one. I’m taking the change harder than the family living there, I think.

I wouldn’t call myself an animal fan. I recently randomly was in charge of a black lab for a couple hours, this is the first time I’ve walked a dog in ohhhhh seven years at least.

Lastly, last night I cheered on my fellow blog girls at the Crystal Light Purse Challenge Fashion Show, congratulations ladies! Looking terrific! Sorry about the grainy photos, they all came out like this, I don’t know why.

Do you even know HOW many Canada facts I have stored in my head?

I can do this All. Day. Long.

Kay I gotta run, TTYL! xo Keri

Hi From Ottawa, I’m Helping My Brother Move

Proud of the kid, he’s off to conquer the radio broadcasting world in another province. He will, too.

It amazes me you can rent all of the above, without ever proving you can drive it.

That’s not a shot at my brother, he’s excellent with cars and actually, if you live in Ottawa and talk cars online you probably know him.

Once I made a welcome post for RedLiners.ca, during my Exploring a Race Car episode. Which features zero footage of me actually driving the thing, even though I super did; it was not my fault.

However, it remains as maybe my best video screenshot ever, behold.

While in Ottawa he took me to Kenny’s, this nicely organized junkyard where I got little things, like a new hazard light and window button.

You sign a waiver, go in, tear what you want off, pay on the way out.

See the price of the key fobs? That’s like, $200 minimum at the dealership. That’s the trick.

This sums up how awesome my brother is… despite having so much to do, he insisted on going over my car.

I’m laughing too hard here.

My brother can make me laugh harder than almost anyone.

Here’s one of my favourite videos ever, talking to him on the phone one night…

Congratulations on the new job, Pete, it’s gonna be great and I love you!! xo Keri

Let's Have a Party with Stella Artois Légère

THIS IS EXCITING!

Okay so!

Here’s what’s happening:

Stella Artois Légère has embarked on a Summer Sampling Program. Keep an eye out around Toronto, they’ve been known to pop up here and there, and they like to share (get it? Wink!)

Even better, they asked me if I would like a chance at hosting a giant Block Party in the downtown area?? Yes please!

How it works:

Toronto has been divided into chunks (Downtown, WestEnd, Yorkville/Annex, the Beach / Leslieville / Danforth, Scarbourough/Don Mills, Etobicoke/Yorkdale), and based on which area gets the most votes, that’s where they’ll throw their Block Party.

I’m representing Downtown:

1 – Liberty Village 2 – University Ave 3 – Front Street 4 – Queens Quay 5 – King Street 6 – Blue Jays Way

What we have to do to get the party downtown:

Vote on Facebook for the party to be held Downtown. Vote for “Downtown” here: Facebook.com/StellaArtoisCanada

How to vote:

STEP 1 – Go to Facebook.com/StellaArtoisCanada and click “Stella Artois Légère”

STEP 2 – Now you’ll see a voting screen.  Scroll down for the vote box on the left

STEP 3 – Choose ‘Downtown’ and tada!  Thank you!

This is NOT a contest, it’s all done by votes (because you can imagine the legal stuff surrounding a beer company throwing contests and hosting sampling sessions. Big props to @StellaArtoisCan for figuring out how ;) )

The party will be August 13 2011, and I’ll have 4 tickets to give away closer to the date.

Please vote! Wouldn’t this just be the best time?  I’d love to be able to throw a big party as a thanks for your continued reading and blog support, and I actually love Stella – we will all be winning with this.

Lastly, keep an eye out for cars and bikes like this around town, Stella Artois Légère Summer Sampling FTW!

FULL DISCLAIMER – I am being paid to promote this contest. I want you to know that. But remember when I told you about being for sale? I genuinely drink Stella, which is what I said when they approached me, so it all fits.

Did You Know the Planets Aligned?

I’m not being dramatic like, “ooooo the planets must’ve aligned, Billy, you’re on time”.

They physcially actually did.

In May 2011, six of them lined up, visible from Earth with a naked eye, look:

(image via BestSyndication.net)

Do you even know how rare this is?

For most of May they stayed in line along the path the sun travels each day.

Why is this so interesting?

Because this planet configuration was predicted by the Mayans to occur… December 21 2012.

Yup, the infamous 2012 theory.  Astronomers say no such alignment will occur next year.

Basically the Mayans were 19 months off in their calculations, but when considering they did them thousands of years ago, I’d call that pretty close.

Think this news is all fringe, and maybe you’re rolling your eyes?  Time Magazine wrote about it.

I’ll leave you with this:
