My 5th Year as Cycling President

If we’re just meeting, I’m president of a cycling team, and we race in the OCA – Ontario Cycling Association.

See the red logo on the shoulders?  That’s my internet show, The Canadian Explorer.

2007-10 I travelled around Canada celebrating it (do more of that, okay), documented it all in 80 episodes, they were some of the best years I ever had.  The site is a mess, but if you’re willing to wade around there’s some entertaining stuff over there.

Other teams have tents and buses, many are 30+ members strong.

We are small and scrappy, but we medal a lot.

We are a great team.

We’ve placed 3rd in Ontario 3 times already this season!

Who’s with me?

Click here for all cycling posts, and here’s a great post to meet the team, there’s two videos.

One of my favourite things about a race: the mobile command centre.

Another favourite part:

What a great way to mark time.  You know how I feel about time.

My least favourite part.

They race for 90 minutes, so sometimes you have to feed them.

They grab the bottle at 30km/h, and if you screw up they cramp up, lose, and you are a bad president.

(note: if you ever meet someone who did this race, be impressed; that hill is gruesome)

Here’s to a successful second half of the season, team, <3 ya!

It Was a Quiet Weekend

I haven’t felt like living online these last few days.

Happens. Always passes.

Saturday night looked like this.

Glued out, filtering photos while replaying and reviewing the week in my head. I think that’s important to do.

On Thursday I attended a Breast Cancer fundraiser for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

They’re a class act who do important research and run a tight ship. I’ve been inside plenty, the bell is the best part of the whole place ;).  Please give.

My BFF was the evenings’ keynote speaker, then she heated up the stage in the fashion show.

I said nothing online during her treatment, but too bad missy, I get this one time – your toughness is impressive, you wore cancer better than anyone, and I’m so happy you’re back love you.

Internet, this is my favourite cancer story: deep into her treatment her insurance company calls, they’re all confused; how was she at work this much, if she’s undergoing chemo, radiation and surgery? HA she’s that tough.

On Sunday, this.

It wasn’t until I pulled into the same industrial park that it hit me. Then I got all reflective and pensive.

That’s not my best profile pic is it, let’s change that. Done.  Here is the new one.

Classic Keri.  KeriCDN.

Recent outfits.

Picked up fresh flowers this afternoon.

I’ve kept fresh flowers around, long as I can remember. They make a place a home, and don’t have to cost a lot.

I like carnations actually, they’re colourful, cheap and last 2 weeks.

And that concludes this blog post.

Hope Your May 24 Was Excellent Too

Kicked off the weekend Friday night with a beer up on high.

Look at the guy in blue behind me, ha.

Now look down.

I love the holidays in town, you have the city all to yourself.

Switched cars again, look for an orange blur around TO this week.

It’s easy to drive, the Focus.  This is the one that parks itself, too.  All. By. Itself.  Watch my video of that here.

I put a few hundred kilometres on Sunday driving to Pelham, Ontario to cheer on my cycling team, who performed great, go team!

I took a break from the internet all weekend.

Can you leave your phone alone, or one further, at home when you go out? If you can’t, that’s not good.

I cleaned a lot this weekend. I do every year around this time.

Look at that smog water; that’s the price of living downtown.

Ahhhh better. I was surprised when the floor turned out to be white.

Like my snow tires ottomans? Driver at Heart.

Spring cleaning done, and this is a very happy me.

I can’t concentrate when things aren’t in order. I’m completely moved in now.

Girls night!

Lots of long city walks.

That’s Yonge and Wellsley.

I saw $3 million in cars go by in as many minutes.

A guy tapped me on the shoulder yesterday, “hi, I’ve been following you for several blocks, you have a really great walk, and I had to tell you”.

Notice anything about my outfits in this post? I’m not wearing all black :O

You must’ve been tired of seeing me always in black, I know I was tired of blogging the photos. But one suitcase for four months means everything must match, which means everything black.

I unpacked all my clothes that had been in storage since last fall.  Colour ahoy.

Have a great week!

Cycling Animated Gifs & SEO Experiments

There’s a reason I’m doing this.

I’m trying to rank for “cycling animated gifs”, because very few exist.

I like to see if I can rank for things, for kicks.

There’s the Barking Fish Cafe (7th), Skynet Becomes Self Aware (28th), World Planking Day (12th), and Big Mac Virus (3rd).

These are my SEO Experiments.

I have some things to say about SEO these days, I’ve got a half drafted blog post here, coming soon.

PS – if you’d like to see some REALLY nice animated gifs, meet From Me To You, they’re gorgeous.

PPS – Hope this didn’t load too slow, I made them small, I’m thinking about your load time! I always do.

Meet My Cycling Team

If we recently met, it’s my 4th season of being President of a Cycling Team, so there will be summer braggy posts like this, and overly-dramatic capitlaizing of words like President.

My team is awesome, and we win a lot.

Technically they are riding for my show, The Canadian Explorer.

This is Episode #30 from said show – Exploring Cycling.

I should record a Twitvid of the audio when the peloton goes by. A peloton is a pack of cyclists.

Racing is brutally hard, like, see top right above? If you had that much lactic acid in your body right now, you wouldn’t be able to finish reading this post, you’d be so sick.  Beasts.

Couple that with how I rule with my little iron fist, and you get wins.

Last week we placed first in the KW Classic 2011 Road Race, YES Nick!!  The year before that we took second, YES Gary!!  As in, the best in all Ontario YES.

Nationals are coming up, and then the Canada Day Chin Picnic, which we dominated last year.

Sometimes, not gonna lie, in between laps can be a bit dull.

Good thing I am excellent at amusing myself.  Here’s how I sometimes cheer.  And look, it’s just my size.

One time though I was too good at it, and missed the finish to the above 1st/2nd win, because I was picking flowers in the park.

Some weekend ago was freezing and I had only sandals. I tried putting hot balm on my feet (it works), then hiked around the track.

It’s weird to look down and have someone else’s feet be there.

Here’s my favoruite parts about the sport of cycling.

I filmed this ages ago, when I was testing doing videos on a time-limit, which became my mini-video-series – Just a Minute.

They’re all one minute long, a variety of topics, click here, watch just one, thanks!

Kay one more dramatic photo.

PS – to my older readers thanks, I know you’ve seen some of the above before, but now I have a solid cycling-themed post to use as an introduction and sales too ;)
