Laundry Takes You Places

Spent the morning at the laundromat. Living on the road, you end up in places you’d otherwise not.

When I pulled in, see those guys standing there?

They all waved and yelled at me, real motivated. I smiled back. Always smile, even if you are unsure what’s happening. Keep your face pleasant. That’s your security tip of today.

I put my clothes in, then went back outside to watch. Ahhhhh got it, they’re day labourers.

Basically I could drive up, say “Get in let’s go!” and in they get. Now I have a car full of willing workers.

I should return tomorrow, “hey, any of you know how to video edit? Final Cut?”

Settled in with my book.

It’s the last in Queen & Country series, ‘The Last Run‘ by my top 3 favourite authors right now, Greg Rucka, and starring spy Tara Chace.

Debated playing pool, because by now the guys outside have moved inside to the tables. I’m watching with my peripheral… there’s a good chance I’ll win, but then I’d have to talk… nah.

Then I made this animated gif, it’s a Flixel.

So cool, eh?! Even cooler – it was made in Toronto, and it’s really taking off. Get it here.

And now I’m home, well, my home for one week.

Gotta run! I have email to catch up on and a city to drive around.

Hi Hi from Atlanta GA

On the road again, here we go.

I can pack for a week in 20 minutes.

It helps that almost everything I own is black.

Double rainbow.

Wait – I wonder if there is meaning behind seeing one… hang on I’ll look it up…:

Double rainbow – a symbol of transformation. Considered very auspicious should you see one. A sign from the universe something great is about to fall in my lap.

Driving driving boring straight driving.

I miss driving standard.

Flowers on the trees make a blog pretty.

IMPORTANT: I barely have internet, and looks like it’ll be that way all week. Sorry in advance. Really need a cel phone sponsor.

Things From My Trip

On the left – my excellent packing job.

The green arrow is pointing at my new favourite dress, which I think I’ll also wear to the Stella party. It’s almost too short. Almost. Smirk.

On the right are two travel essentials.

The water is gone before I board, and… oh wait – I have the perfect video about passports, hang on…..

Look at that – I was defeated by… my own lock.  Can’t remember the black password.

See the symbol the blue arrow is pointing at? That’s what you want.

It means airport security has a universal key to open your lock. Otherwise, if airport security needs to get into your bag, they have to cut it off, now they’re frustrated with you, now your bag is getting tossed around accordingly.

I know this to be true because of the many nods of approval from the airport security people when they see it.

Action shot of my new show being designed. Down to the wire indeed.

There was so much to do before I left. Kinda wished I’d documented it a bit more.  There was no time.  Last week I was vibrating literally for days before.  Oh no.  As I type this a memory of the Olympics -After-Math coming back.  The Crash.  Moving on.

My tools. I only use Joby tripods, and I invent best with a Sharpie.

That’s my new favourite author, Greg Rucka.  One more book after that and it’s over, you know the feeling.

Travel socks.

Aaaaaand landed.Game ON.

(those eyes haven’t slept for 50 hours. Made it to 63 before I fell on my face).

Ahahahhaha get it?  Looks like I could be anywhere!  That’s funny.

Kay whatever, it was very funny to me at the time.

That went everywhere with me, every day all day.

That’s where this blog post came from. I’m holed up in a bar in Vegas drinking Coke.

See how I positioned myself so you can’t read my screen from behind?

Security is the little things, remember that.

I Haven't Talked Since Friday

Right now it’s Sunday 4pm.

I was last heard from Friday at 5:30pm, and have been silent ever since.

Tweeted this Saturday, because it was true.

Nothing horrible happened to me, I’m okay.

I wouldn’t call it the best week I ever had, and it was maybe my worst Summer Solstice, the ‘getting paid to blog’ scenario has me exasperated….. I don’t know, just felt like being quiet and daydreaming and imagining a lot, so I did.

I went for a Morning Drive both days.

Finished two books.

Queen and Country by Greg Rucka
Fatal System Error by Joseph Menn

Thought deeply. Which means I sat a lot with my hand over my mouth, that’s my thinking position.  Made tons of notes.

Staying like this till I wake up tomorrow, then it’s back to normal, ttythen :)

Happy Rapture To You!

Can you imagine believing so strongly you’re getting zoomed up to the clouds at 6pm tonight, that you quit your job and sell your stuff?  And there’s millions of them.

But guys – if Jesus is such a great forgiving guy, how could he have it in his heart to be so choosy and opposite?  Dedicate a whole day to judging?

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, read this CBC article.

Here’s the joke going around the internet, ha:

Probably those people just need a little KeriBlog, and maybe some Nyan cat, have you seen that yet?  Likely no, I probably like internet memes more than you.

You’ll love or hate it, no in-between.

I’m one of those people who has a spring fever, literally. I’m pretty sick.  My fever broke late yesterday, but I’ve been SO dumb for 3 days now. Fevers always do that to me.

What I look like when I’m sick ahahahahahaha:

Just finished this book, my first ever graphic novel.

Queen & Country by Greg Rucka

It stars Tara Chace, an SIS field agent sent worldwide in service of her government, and this series has been touted as a rare look “at the world of international espionage from a real-world perspective seldom seen in the realm of spy fiction” (back cover).

As in, they have no money and it’s not Bond-ish at all.

I really really liked this book.  I’d really really like to play this character in the movie version that’s in development.

Oh before I forget again, I should put the date of today in, for SEO purposes: May 21 2011 Rapture 6pm 18:00

I’m off to celebrate the birthday of one of my oldest friends in Toronto, happy birthday pal!

(that’s an old photo, here’s the original post ;))

Kay I gotta run!

Oh and if I’m wrong about Rapture, Happy Apocalypsing to You!

Here’s how to execute the best exit EVER from an over-turned jeep.

PS – World Planking Day is Wednesday, I can’t wait!  Don’t care that it’s old, it’s still funny.
