A Fantastic Canadian Cottage Night

Daydreamed a night just like this, all summer.

Finished work Saturday and closed my laptop for a minute. Picked up a 2014 Mazda MX-5 AKA Miata, for the trip north.

Fun drive north to the windy-roads of the Muskokas, here’s the car post.

CASIE XO

Oh Canada.

Even got to go on a boat ride.

Great day bled into great night.

Back in town to work Monday, to get a head start on the week.

Hope you had a good long weekend, summer’s over now, time to work.

Went to California for 48 Hours

Aaand home.

That was maybe my best driving experience yet.

Ridiculous changes in elevation, not one straight line,
through beautiful terrain, on a clear blue sky day…
total video game roads.

Manual all day long, too.

Made a video.

And I was testing a Jetta! What I own! (here it is)

Short review – loved it.

(it’s tough to beat VW and Audi, I think. I love minimal though, remember (as I type this on my white desk, in my white living room, with nothing on the walls)).

NO SCREEN YESSSS

OH NO.

As I was cropping this photo, I see I forgot to remove the un-sightly key-fob, before taking the photos for the paper ughhhhh sound, hangs head.

Specifically, I was in Napa Vally.

The grapes really do look like the ones in those paintings,
in cheap Italian restaurants.

These trips sound glamorous, but it’s bit tough to be honest. NOT complaining, I love it, but it’s an intense, fast-paced, all-consuming 48hrs, with a 3hr time change, my stomach is weird, and it’s hard on your skin, and cel phone bill.

I just need to keep refining my system, is all. I keep coming back to: if I trained myself to sleep in shifts, could I do more that way…

Over the ‘ole Golden Gate.

Unpacked; laundry in; next week’s column done, talking about the badges on cars.

Now my jogging-pants-greasy-plane self is off for a beer, and to catch up on the internet.

Here’s to a good start to your last weekend of summer!

Off to CA with VW

To test the new… Jetta YES.

Napa Valley. I’ll try to blog, but these test trips are fast and busy. So if not then, when I’m back this weekend.

I was Mega Productive this Weekend

Not now chief, I’m in the zone. Hand over mouth, always.

Zeroed my inbox ahhh; all Saturday was a chunk of technical work I’d been avoiding; and my home is now fall-cleaned.

Blog re-build work, Autonet work’s all caught up, other job I’m testing for is good, and lots of productive daydreaming this weekend, needed it.

It started out as a reticent-phase many months ago, but it’s kept going so long, it’s no longer a phase. I just don’t see the point of talking.

I have a dream: instead of speaking, I can send a link to something I’ve blogged that answers whatever the question is.  Getting there.  I should Tweet more though, random observations like I used to.

Anyway la la la, here’s what it looks like when I daydream.

Doesn’t it seem like I’m looking at you, paying attention?

I have that down.

Haven’t showed you my desk in a while.

This Wednesday I’m off to California with VW, to test the new Jetta.  Back on Friday, and this week’s column is about sobriety checkpoints.

TTYT

Vegas is Excess, and Excess is Gross

That’s why I don’t like the place, shortest and clearest I can explain it.

It’s so over-stimulatiing, so disposable, and I find people become so entitled soon as they land there. But I seem to end up here often, this is probably trip #15. There’s a blog tag, even: Vegas.

Here’s some stuff from my 11 days there, a few weeks ago.

View from the patio at Pure, at Caesar’s.

View from my room.

View of Vegas outfits.

The giant-ism is nuts.

What’re you doing this afternoon, Ker?  Going to cross the street.

It gets better when you leave the Strip, go to where the normal people live.

This is the Gold Spike in Vegas, a casino-turned-bar.

Rare eh, a place that gave up their gambling licence.

This is a ruined selfie.

And the end.
