Swooning Over a Codec, I Can Edit Again

I AM ELATED.

My camera wouldn’t talk to my computer. How can I edit?

1 – the problem
2 – my computer couldn’t read the files on my video camera, they were trapped inside the camera
3 – the solution

** When buying a Sony video camera: Sony is proprietary. They try to make you use their software to get pics/videos off the camera.  Be prepared to use a work-around.

Do you even know HOW hard it is to find a video camera with a wireless lavalier microphone?

Nay impossible.

That’s why mine is so special.

Holy crap I love video editing.

I celebrated with ice cream.

Morning from the Florida Keys

I’m here for 2 nights to visit old friends, arrived last night.
Enjoyed dinner with them, then I put my head down and edited.

I’m pleased to report I have finished learning the new Final Cut YES. What that looks like:

I was dragging my heels on learning it, not gonna lie. Then Saturday night I bit the bullet, sat down, and got up 8 hours later; that’s what it takes.

Ever seen what video editing looks like? Here’s a fast video I made last year showing you.

After I rendered and uploaded my first video on it, I went for a walk outside.

Look how pleased I am with myself. Coming later: 48 Hours in South Beach and No Photos.

And also coming later…. my security show intro… OMFG I really must say.

Gotta run here, have a great day TTYL!

Things From This Tuesday

I found a place to live YA buddy.

Tweeted this:

There’s a market for: furnished apartment / condos on short term leases in downtown Toronto, which are geared toward the individual, not a corporation.  You could make an alright dollar in that game.

I cut it close, and homeless-in-6-days comes with some heaviness.  This nomad-lifestyle will take a bit ironing out, to find a system… but for now I’m good till the end of the year YES.

I’ll probably lalala at the camera about this.  I’ve been composing the episode, “So I Gave Away All My Stuff”.

See text.

Got my toes done.

Chose the purple, which I was told is the colour of the Vietnamese ‘Clock Flower’, a special little guy that opens in the morning, then closes at night.

The tinfoil was intended to protect the polish during my walk home in sneakers, but don’t do it, it flakes into tiny bits, only agree to saran wrap for this.

Filming this past weekend.

Really was having some sad moments of missing the studio.

I’m being outsmarted by my dishwasher (can’t turn it on?), and I mass-updated my I Am Not a Hippie blog.

Kay TTYL, have a great night!!

Last Chance to go to the CNE

Look how much fun you can have.

It’s the oldest fair in North America come ON.

And if THAT video about a fair doesn’t get you pumped, this one surely will…

Canadian Explorer Episode #4 – Exploring a Fair

This was the first episode I genuienly liked, because, this was at the 3 month mark, and by then I’d learned enough about Final Cut to make it how it looked in my head.

Editing aside – this thing was all in .mov and every time I moved even one pixel, I had to render o.m.g.
