How to Play the ‘Laser Through the Crowd’ Game

The object is: to make it to the destination fast as possible, travelling only straight through the crowd. No moving on the fringe, no running.

Points are deducted if any person or object touches you.

Points are added for cool moves, like, squeezing untouched through an impossible space as it closes, or fancy footwork.

This is an ideal game board:

The ‘Laser Through the Crowd’ Game
Makes a boring walk, not

Spot the filming camera.

I’m pretty good at moving through crowds, like a laser beam. That’s where I got the name from. Helps that I’m little.

I’m all Deer-in-the-Headlights to Film

I have 300 videos online, 8 pages of topics ready to go, and still I’m freezing up. Dumb eh.

So back to 2007 where this all started – me by myself, talking to a camera on a tripod.

I’ve been making garbage videos:

film review delete, film review delete.

First, I reminded myself of the physical actions of making a video.

Painting my toes red.

Move to the next level: speaking, blablablaing to the camera.

In real life, I speak very little.  Here I am talking about how I don’t like talking.

I really don’t.

The irony is, I’m pretty good at it.

Best way I can describe this feeling…

… as soon as you’re done reading this paragraph… hold up your phone, video on. State your name, location, speak passionately for 1 minute about anything, and upload it to YouTube. Then, Facebook & Tweet the link with this text, “I made this video, go watch it”.

That anxious feeling that’s now in your stomach, it’s that.

I’m too animated, talk too much with my hands, speak too quickly.

Reviewing the footage yeah, I can see it, but I’ll only slow my speech down a little. Because I figure: if you can’t absorb at that speed, you’re probably not going to like my stuff anyway.

Also noted while reviewing, wow, that is not the face that started 7 years ago.  Sigh. I can’t get away with it anymore, I’m going to have to learn to use makeup.

Last summer I bought my first eyeliner, world’s oldest tomboy here. No dramatics, there’s 12 year olds better at makeup than me.

Pro tip – everyone looks good at this angle.

You know though, making and editing video of yourself is a strange but rewarding experience. I’m more self aware because of it.

If  you ever want to take a good, cold look at yourself, make a video of you interviewing someone. I have a whole theory about this, it’s on my Mega Video List.

140 is 245 is 4 is 2

Been looking forward to doing this math for years!

I can now because of this spreadsheet, a list of all videos on KeriBlog.com.

140 videos, a total of 245 edited minutes,
4 hours, or 2 feature length movies

Plus there’s the same amount over on The Canadian Explorer, and that video even has an editing style.

So by my math, I’ve edited the equivalent of 4 movies.

BOOM BOOM

5 Pages of Videos Printed

Been keeping a list on my phone for years, “video ideas”. Each line is a topic for a video, with an accompanying script written in my head.

This weekend, I wanted an real-life copy and hit print… and 5 single-spaced pages came out :O

(blurred because obviously)

I did not think I had that many.  Topics include: driving / car reviews / security / my life theories.

Taken right after it happened, I’m pretty pleased with myself here.

I’ve alluded to getting editing help recently, but  but it’s been going well, and that’s what propelled the printing.

Don’t feel to elaborate, at the risk of jinxing it, but have to post this one…

… look how beautifully my audio is keyframed.

The Original KeriBlog.com

Founded October 8 2010

It’s still live over at
KeriBlogYES.wordpress.com

First post.

There’s about 5 posts, including:

– playing pool, with a jumpshot video

– that I changed my Twitter name (I’m formerly KeriCDN, eh)

– and an awkward video of me babbling to the camera, about how “Canadian Explorer’ was over, welcome to the all-new KeriBlog lalala

Me on founding day.

Remember in summer 2011, when I amalgamated all my URLs under one umbrella: KeriBLOB.com ahah, that still has legs.

Woah I was on a Blackberry! Remember that browser gah. When did I switch to iPhone wait, probably blogged it brb…

… ya I did – First Post from my iPhone

That’s a video in the middle, re-embedding now.

Bit of a cheap editing trick a bit, but still kinda neat, the page looked just like it. All the sticky-notes were image-mapped wait again, that still may be my ‘About’ page here… brb… … ya it is. Kay that’s bad.

I came across this old blog, while working on the new one.

I have 8 ‘About’ pages to polish now, then sidebar images to amalgamate and create.  Expect a post with a sidebar collage.  It’s all about the sidebar.
