Enter Year of the Dragon

Gong Xi Fa Chai! Happy New Year!

It’s Chinese New Year tomorrow, January 23 2012, and it’s ‘Year of the Dragon’.

It’s the only sign of the Chinese zodiac that is a creature that you cannot see. Powerful and mystical. Mysterious and lucky.

In the old days the dragon represented the king and only the king could wear the dragon symbol on his clothing. The year of the dragon is especially popular.

Things you do to prepare for this:

  • Make sure your home is clean and tidy before the new year
  • Don’t forget your car, everyone forgets their car
  • Don’t take throw out the garbage for 5 days after the new year – – or you are ‘throwing away your money’
  • Take special care not to break any glass – bad luck
  • Try not to make any enemies or quarrel with anyone
  • Wear red underwear for good luck
  • Get a haircut

If you need inspiration for purging, remember when I created ‘The Emporium’, and gave away everything I own?

All of that, gone. And I haven’t thought or missed any of it for one second. You won’t either, you’ll see.

Here’s to this being your best year yet! I hope all your dreams come true in 2012.

Happy New Years, May All Your Dreams Come True

I mean that, as happy crappy as it sounds.

I’m pretty jinxy and methodical how I spend the first day of the year. I believe it sets the tone for the other 364 days.

(and THAT’S the benefit of blogging, ha).

While I believe this….

I do love the energy on the streets, because no matter where you are, it’s always excited and lit up.

This year I had a beer in a random bar, played a game of pool.

Then the actual January 1 I worked and did something I never do: spent time in nature.

Make sure to risk things this year and dream big.

Really big kay, that’s why it’s called a dream.

I Haven’t Yet Officially Wished You HNY

So HAPPY NEW YEAR to YOU!!

May it be your best one yet!!

I’m kinda jinxy and methodical about how I spend the hours before the a new year. This year I wanted to be around a bunch of money, so I went to a casino.

Played slots and video poker (my favourite game, and only play on at least a 9/6 machine kay). Turned $20 into $70 in 10 minutes of play. Mission accomplished.

And let the record show that Wheel of Fortune is THE best game period. I get so pumped when me or anyone in my row gets to spin.

Then I ripped up that note, which has been folded in my wallet for 7 months, and pitched it into the sky.

So sometimes I’m like, super dramatic, whatever.
