Hi from the South but Where is My Trunk?!

I was ahead of schedule (YES to my meticulousness), car packed up, far too excited to sleep, so I set off Thursday evening.

Then nah.

Let’s turn around and head back to Toronto.

Change in plans, let’s fly instead.

And that’s why I don’t have my trunk with me. Despite talking incessantly about it for 3 months. I love that trunk, I even made it its own blog catagory.

Ahhh the best laid plans.

So I took it to my storage unit, hauled it out of my car myself (I. Am. A. Beast).

Re-packed and reduced everything to two suitcases and a backpack.

Last adjustments Saturday morning.

And I’m off! Tweeted this photo to commemorate.

I always board last, I’ve mentioned this before. I don’t understand lining up to be first… you’re just going to have to sit there longer?!

Good things can happen when you board last… that’s how I got bumped up to First Class flying home from Alberta last week.

True story:

I have a lot of blog girl gear.

Changed planes. The Detroit airport is huuuge.

Taken just before initial descent, that’s how huge because I am high up.

Good airport advice:

Back up in the sky.

If you see that view in real life and if it doesn’t move you, you’re dead inside.

And I arrived!

Yes that’s McDonald’s, I went directly there off the plane. I’m predictable that way.

I’m pumped to share my trip with you!!

I have to figure out internet here, which I’m en route to do soon as I hit publish on this post.

Things From My Trip

On the left – my excellent packing job.

The green arrow is pointing at my new favourite dress, which I think I’ll also wear to the Stella party. It’s almost too short. Almost. Smirk.

On the right are two travel essentials.

The water is gone before I board, and… oh wait – I have the perfect video about passports, hang on…..

Look at that – I was defeated by… my own lock.  Can’t remember the black password.

See the symbol the blue arrow is pointing at? That’s what you want.

It means airport security has a universal key to open your lock. Otherwise, if airport security needs to get into your bag, they have to cut it off, now they’re frustrated with you, now your bag is getting tossed around accordingly.

I know this to be true because of the many nods of approval from the airport security people when they see it.

Action shot of my new show being designed. Down to the wire indeed.

There was so much to do before I left. Kinda wished I’d documented it a bit more.  There was no time.  Last week I was vibrating literally for days before.  Oh no.  As I type this a memory of the Olympics -After-Math coming back.  The Crash.  Moving on.

My tools. I only use Joby tripods, and I invent best with a Sharpie.

That’s my new favourite author, Greg Rucka.  One more book after that and it’s over, you know the feeling.

Travel socks.

Aaaaaand landed.Game ON.

(those eyes haven’t slept for 50 hours. Made it to 63 before I fell on my face).

Ahahahhaha get it?  Looks like I could be anywhere!  That’s funny.

Kay whatever, it was very funny to me at the time.

That went everywhere with me, every day all day.

That’s where this blog post came from. I’m holed up in a bar in Vegas drinking Coke.

See how I positioned myself so you can’t read my screen from behind?

Security is the little things, remember that.

It's 'World Planking Day' Today

Planking kills me. I love internet memes SO much.

Go look at the Facebook group photos, come on, you smirked.

Remember the game you maybe played when you’re a kid, “straight as a board”? It’s like that.

The rules of planking:

1 – lay down in a public place
2 – toes pointed, face expressionless, hands by your sides
3 – take a photo

Last night Casie and I cruised around, planking our hearts out and laughing our faces off.

We discovered planking is good for your core muscles, meeting cute boys, and is far more fun than you think (stop shaking your head at your screen).

Tree plank.

Thanks for the free beer Tyler ;)

So. So. Fun.

Here’s Casie’s post, there’s even better photos over there.

Plank ya later!

Real Olympic Gold Medals

It’s Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the Canadian Olympic Gold winning ice dancers, hi guys! Congratulations on killing it at the games and more recently, the Worlds.

They were really nice, and even better looking in person.

Their winning performance:

Body Shop was also nice to host this, thank you!  They launched a new product, “Body Butter Duos” and sent me home with some, the Sweet Pea being my favourite.

One side for normal skin, the other for very dry, smells good and light, like, not too perfumey, which is good because I am so sensitive to smells.  90% of the time I hold my breath when I open someone’s fridge.

This is the second time I’ve been lucky enough to hold a Gold, remember when I was in Whistler last year and found snowboarder Maelle Ricker?

I Just Love Airports

Get your shoes shined, check out the ridiculously overpriced everything, get a coffee and sit quietly absorbing it all. The people watching is extraordinary.

I always board last. Already I’m going to have to sit still for longer than comes naturally, whyyyyy would I increase that if I don’t have to?

Here’s a Twitvid from last year – what I think about having a Canadian Passport.
