A Saturday Night Update

It’s a pretty typical Saturday night here, bubbly water and my laptop. I’m polishing this week’s column, which is the 3rd (and final) instalment in what accidentally turned into an Eco series. Here’s Part 1 & Part 2.

I’m also doing blog renovations, and cleaning up my accounts around the internet.

Plus cleaning IRL.

Tomorrow kicks off the Year of the Snake.

I’m almost done, except for this mess.

This is the latest song I’m OCDing out to; how is this not a radio hit?

Insert headphones and turn it UP.

Remember dance packing? Chinese New Year cleaning will look like this.

(that’s an old OCD’ed out song)

Had a great time at the FordBlue party last night. Not surprising, Ford always puts on class events.

The storm was fun, eh! Canada looks like Canada again.

It also allows me to wear some favouite boots.  Good to -75ºC.

My hair looks great eh, this is Niki’s best blonde yet. Thanks missy xo

She’s been perfecting “Illusion Hair”; I’ll detail it out another time, it’s clever. Go see her, too.

I’ve been cooking :O

It counts as cooking, I used heat.

This is from last week, but I look exactly the same right now #SaturdayNightUniform

I’ll leave you with what my desk right now, been a while since I documented it.

TTYL, have a great rest-of-weekend,

xo Keri

Happy Birthday Blog, You’re 4 Now!

On February 8, 2009 I launched my first blog.

It looked like this, and launched with 25 ‘The Canadian Explorer’ video episodes.

(here’s the post you can see: Work Last Night)

The photos aren’t great, because I started blogging with a Razr, ha.

Now it has morphed into this blog. Pretty neat, eh.

This post is mostly for documenting purposes.

I’m Not a Fan of Hybrids, Part 1

This week I detail why I’m not a fan of hybrids or eco-cars… the batteries, the lack of infrastructure, and the single-minded fervour around the topic.

But most of all, unless the owner is always driving in an eco-style, it’s all for not.

Read in online at Autonet.ca.

Favourite line:

If we’re going to be honest, we only really started caring about the environmental impact of gasoline engines in the 1970s. And look how far we’ve come in 30 short years.

Read Part 2 here.

Made the cover today yesss.

Last week, I also wrote about eco cars, I designed The Keri Eco Car. And next week will be about eco too, I have more to say, but then I will be DONE with this topic for a while :)

The 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo

The 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo is easy to photograph, and beautifies a blog.

First press car of the new year, and I turned over the odometer to 4 digits YES (5th car I’ve broken in).

It probably looked like I was a new driver when I first picked it up.  It’s a big engine for the size and weight of the car, with a short wheel-base and high centre of gravity; this is a potentially twitchy recipe.

I was using the brakes like in my Jetta, wrong. Apply 30% of that pressure, that’s better.

Don’t get confused, this is a ‘drivers car’ – it doesn’t belong in the ‘compact car’ category.

The backseat is small for passengers (but who wants ’em).

And the trunk is tiny; that’s a small bag. Note the seats fold down – a weekend-away worth of stuff and 2 passengers would be no problem. But beyond that, doubtful.

This is a great second car for someone who loves driving.

You have to stay switched on while driving, which is fine, but not all the time.  Sometimes you just want to cruise to get some milk, or run the dog to the groomer.  That’s why I say second car.

High performance means high level of care, remember – The Thing About Nice Rims is This

2013 Fiat 500 Turbo

Starting at $15,995
This one $18,495

Get it in manual, and spend the extra few bucks on a turbo.

A Great Toronto Night Drive

Start at the top of the map, follow the blue line.

It’s a long, downhill curvy drive, then the * marks the best part. That’s one lane through dense foliage, almost a forest.

Here’s the Google map.
