Hope Yours was a Good Weekend Also

Kind’ve an awkward sentence eh, that headline. My writing is rusty.

It’s 4:30 Sunday and I just opened my laptop for the first time since Wednesday. Feels nice to type again actually.

Spent the day moving slowly, still pretty wiped. Documented very little of the past 3 days, and don’t feel like being on camera is all. There’s a big smile beneath the hat though, still feel 100% about my decision to leave the newspaper.

First true week of unemployment kicks off tomorrow. Or like my buddy said on the phone this afternoon, “ya Ker, it’s now a work week, and you’re going to do soooooooomething…”

Laughed because it’s true, I don’t know what I’ll do. Finding ‘Keri on Driving’ a new home is a priority, make some lists, plot an execution plan of my 2 main ideas, huh, maybe I do know.

Ran errands this morning, #SundayCleaning, then we ripped out the computer from my neighbours car.

The brain of a 1999 Pontiac.

Oh and I was away.

No big mystery trip, just blogging that I’m gone might as well be, “hey the world’s cutest house is empty.”

Now to finish my pedicure, then I got invited to dinner at my other neighbours. I’ll leave you with some real lazy blogging

… where this post came from…

… and me weeks ago.

Here’s to a strong start to your week, the second last of the summer!

Completed the Cleaning Stage of this Renovation

Took all weekend. Not being dramatic, 25 hours anyway.

Saturday night there was even an impromptu neighbour party in my backyard. I’d sail out, dump out another bucket of water, top up drinks, top up the bucket and leave to scrub.

Good timing from Krud Kutter, they’d sent me their lineup of products to test. Non-toxic, biodegradable, and you can spray it on plants and pets.  I’ve never cared about pouring chemicals down the sink, but now that I’m on a septic, I care.

Below is which type is used for what. It’s kind’ve confusing (and not alphabetical?) so here: yellow for tough stuff and laundry, red for everything else, and purple removes sticky residue like stickers and roofing tar.

Hired my kid worker for an afternoon, and we observed it cut grease well, especially where I dropped a stick of butter on the deck.

Kept it old school though for the wood floors – vinegar and drop of dish soap.  Remember when I had to clean like this last fall? What I didn’t tell you was about the chemical burns on my hands. House is same level of clean this time, but without that. So I threw out all the chemical cleaners. Am I a hippie now?

If it wasn’t so annoying, the coverage that drywall dust
can achieve would be impressive.

Still no real furniture, stuff everywhere, just gotta dance it out.

Every item inside the house, every piece of furniture, scrubbed. Every window and screen. Every felt pad replaced. Every drawer emptied, washed and re-stocked. Every furniture bolt tightened. Ceilings dusted. Walls washed. Purged a couple car loads of nonsense.

It’s been like having 3 jobs this past month. Let’s take a little break.

Okay back up, shouldn’t have sat down.

Keep going, going….. DONE.

All that’s left is the fun part – push everything into place and decorate.

And then create a Before/After photo series, which I think about constantly.

No money was exchanged for this post.

Krud Krutter sent me their products, it was timely so I tested them, then typed my impression. This is a beta test of my latest idea.

The Skip is Back in the Step

3 weeks on the road is too much.

Mega-decompression weekend; jogging pants only, with plenty of quietness, little talking, ahhh. Feeling back to normal, puffier, not haggard and melted.

#SundayCleaning, did some sewing, main-lined episodes of Community, and kicked off my blog re-build.

For the past couple months, the new frame has been being built, and now it’s at that juncture where only I can move the project forward. The list is daunting.  Every bullet you point you see above is 2 hours, anyway.  Sidebars are a time suck. Yesterday I wrote 8 ‘About’ pages omg.

Part of this re-build, is to clean up my social media accounts; so bad I’m wearing a winter jacket in my Twitter, and my LinkedIn is the world’s worst, doesn’t say auto journalist, or even KeriBlog.com I think.

Filming a car meetup this week; my Mustang review ran last week (I’ll blog it); and because I flew home Wednesday, it’s just my Jetta, back to schedule asap. This week’s column is about buying cars in bulk.

Coming up – several car reviews / the last 5 KoD columns / NFC / BlackHat / hacking cars / Vegas / security at the Honda Indy / Lincoln MKZ / 2 Land Rovers / the Raptor / and 9 videos are ready to go.

Here’s to a strong start to your week xo

This is going to be a great fall outfit.

A few recent additions to my lanyard collection.

Shhh.

Night.

That was the Second Last Summer Weekend

Day walk.

Easy to forget Toronto looks like this, so green. There’s more parks and green space here than almost any other city in North America, EH.

There’s also lots of preserved olden times.

#SundayCleaning done. I blog that each week to remind myself another week of time has passed.

Also, I try to have this weekend-wrap-up post live by 11pm. I have 15 minutes from this sentence.

A handful of my weekend outfits.

This week’s flowers.

Friday August 31 is a full moon, but it’s special because it’s also a…

Blue moon – the second full moon that occurs in one month. Happens once every three years. Does not actually glow blue.

Night walk.

Night.

TTYT, have a great start to your week!

PS – Made it 10:56pm

70% of The Weekend I Looked Like This

While looking at this:

Non-nerds – you’re looking at a brand-new, pristine WordPress site. I’m going to port KeriBlog over when I’m finished building it. Comments will work again, one analytics log-in instead of 5, ONE SIDEBAR oh guys, so happy.

The red AI – that’s After the Deadline: an artificial intelligence based spell, style, and grammar checker.  Check the * box to be warned when your writing is too passive. Seriously.  While in Washington in January, I met one of the developers who wrote it; he was funny.

And I’m repeating myself, but AI and mind control and thought-power, it’s coming. It’s closer than you think. This huge shift of the last 5 years when the world got online, it’s nothing compared to what’s around the corner.

The other 30% of this weekend I looked like this.

Friday night.

People-watching with a beer on a street is one of my favourite things.

Saturday night.

#SundayCleaning

Found this awesome FinalCut filter.

This week’s flowers.

They smell like cloves. If your home smells like fresh flowers, that’s classy.

Here’s to a great start to your week, go kill it!

See you online.
