Enter the 6th Annual “Rally ‘Round the County”

If ever you’ve wanted to try a car rally, this Sunday in Milton Ontario is your chance.

My friend Jim Kenzie will be there, who has great stories to share, and make sure to ask him about fog lights, he loves them ;)

Below is his write-up, and if you do enter, good luck and let me know how you did!

***

The sixth Annual “Rally ‘Round the County” takes place this coming Sunday, May 25, starting at Milton Heritage Park.

Registration opens at 9 a.m., first car away at 10 a.m., and you should be all done by 1:30 p.m.

This is a low-key, family-oriented, ‘Time-Speed-Distance’ fun event – bring the kiddies!

All you need is enthusiasm and a modicum of mathematical skills. If you lack the latter, bring a calculator – we’ll teach you all you need to know!

Prizes for best scores, and for best costumes. Sure, dress up – why not?

Silent auction and barbecue (included) all to raise money for Girls Inc. of Halton, which offers after-school programs for girls who need support.

$60 entry fee per car.

Jim Kenzie will even be there with his lovely 1977 American Motors Hornet hatchback. But don’t let that stop you…

A ‘Welcoming Fund-Raising Party’ will also be held Thursday, May 22, at “Shoeless Joe’s Restaurant”, 800 Main Street Milton, between 5 and 8 p.m. 10 percent of all food sales will be donated directly to Girls Inc.

Roughing It & Noisy Cars

Really great weekend, and one that is still happening, hi hi from not-the-city.

Still offline, still on mini-vacation. Look at me changing, I have a sort of relaxed feeling about me almost even. Have slept in my clothes 3 days straight now, yesss.

Here’s a few photos from the weekend.

That’s me in pit lane! Closet I’ve ever been, watched them change tires and refuel even. That fluorescent vest I’m wearing is why I could.

And look at that crash! That’s the checkered flag lap, and I have a video of it, maybe one of the only ones in existence, which I’ll post tomorrow.

Till then have a good day off, I will *chucks phone into seat behind*

Living on a Racetrack this Weekend

Neat eh!

Arrived about 5pm after work was done, and traffic was conquered. Half of which was in the Nissan Juke, NISMO edition; shift up shift down whooooot goes the boost.

Gone to opposite ends of the spectrum this week – 2 days ago I was Montreal, staying at the W Hotel and testing my shooting skills against that NHL guy, and now here I am with my boots on in a trailer, half done my first beer, watching two lunatics start a fire using 5 gallon gas can.

This is NASCAR.

After I hit publish that is IT; no more work till Tuesday, have a great long weekend too xo

Home Again, and Have So Much to Tell You

About both the car (it’s a hit), and what happened to me on the trip.

But for now, bed.

It looks so glamourous from the outside, these press trips, but they’re gruelling with fancy food, really.   Not in a bad way, and not complaining, but yup.

Dramatic pants in Montreal.

I have a whole front page of half-drafted Micra posts to tell you about too, but the car posts deserve focus and concentration, neither of which I have right now.

As well as stuff that happened to me.

Like this.

That’s after scoring a goal on NHL goalie Jose Theodore (yes he was being kind on me).

Then, that already big moment led to something enormous, that will get its own post obviously.

Went for a walk in the rain tonight, to hunt down a copy of today’s paper, because it contains my column, as Wednesday is auto-section day.

Which is what inspired this:

Fact. Observed over years.

Blog tag = jogging pants.
