Kids in Karts in kartSTART

Give ’em a healthy respect for speed early on.

kartSTART – Safety through education, brought to you by Toyota

Says founder Russ Bond:

“This kartSTART program is very unique in several ways,” Russ Bond Agency, Inc (RBA) owner Russ Bond says. “What we teach here is how a vehicle works. What makes it go, what makes it stop, and what makes it turn. We teach our students what is happening to the vehicle as they travel down the road. The key here is we teach youngsters in vehicles that fit them, our karts.” Bond adds.

I got out there, and got schooled by an 11 year old (hi Tim).

Back’atcha!

Gary writes and photos for Wheels.ca, and has blogged forever too (since 2005, nice): TheGarageBlog.com

The program is travelling coast-to-coast this summer, click here for the schedule.

If you ever get the chance, go drive a go-kart.
It’s a good reminder of what speed really feels like,
and brings back a respect for driving & the road

(here’s a column and video about that)

Underwater I Was

I went snorkelling while in Mexico a few weeks back.

Not a fan of underwater sports or activities, because I can’t breathe down there.

The fish are too clever to be touched, but they kept coming just close enough to keep me trying.

The diving companies got together and dropped 400 statues into the water, so us touristas had something to look at besides the dead coral.

The boat ride out was maybe the best part, look:

It’s full-throttle headed straight into shore, then a fast 90 degree turn at the last second, rooster tail of water washes over everyone.

 Ahaha, Mexico.

No DHL No F1

As a organizational nerd, this was interesting to me. Because the title of this post is true – without DHL, there is no race. For 25 years they’ve been the ones to ship the race to its 20 worldwide destinations.

This week for Autonet, I interviewed President of DHL Express (Canada), Greg Hewitt, and I learned that DHL is repsonsible for everything at the race, literally – the VIP suites, the cars, the merchandise, the celebratory champagne, everything you see at a race.

What got me most was the clearing customs aspect; hadn’t thought of that, makes total sense.

Where Did This Week Go

If it’s like this now, omg to when I’m 80 <blink> there goes a year.

Made a video in Cherry Beach.

I’ve probably filmed 25 videos there, and I still get distracted by the planes.

I finally, genuinely like FinalCut X.

Latest OCD song.

It was interesting to watch this song… it was leaked :| via the above, well-filmed video, and pretty good audio for a concert eh, the cheering timing… a concert where cameras are banned, by someone who was able to scrub images off the internet, and this video belongs to the simplest YouTube channel too…

Who cares though, this song is like, the Ferrari of beats and hooks; the one at 2:56, oh girl.

lilac picking

Lilac season!

Top 3 favourite smells of all time.

Had to get a new lamp.

I turned it on and it fried the lightbulb black, right before my eyes. I was going to put another bulb in and film it to make an animated gif, but then was like, watch that be the time fire comes out, and why don’t I own a fire extinguisher?

Go-karting with Kart Start last weekend, have another post for that.

I dominated the weekly auto section of the paper last week look, of the 5 articles 4 were written by me ha.

I’m behind on lots of posts, and blogging my ‘Keri on Driving’ columns, and a F150 off-roading video, and…wait, I’m going to make a list of “posts coming soon”, this is more for me than you….

This is me last week, basking in my genius of when I cracked it – a stock market mystery had been puzzling me for years.

It’ll get it’s own post, but I’m going to keep that post more professional, so here sits the gloating photo.

Next week’s column is about daydreaming behind the wheel, I managed to get myself sick because I am a dumdum, nah I’ll just blame this garbage summer we’re having, have to return the Infiniti tomorrow boo, and I forget what else for now.

Hope it was a good Thursday, best night of the week,

xo Keri
