A Quick Hi Hi as I Pass By

It’s been 36 hours, this blog should have been updated, sorry guys, have a newspaper deadline.

Last night was top-notch, laughed my guts out.  Changed the furniture behind me (used to be a white desk).

Got some great car pics coming up; a how to curl your hair lesson – so you don’t keep looking like you’re in olden times on your blog; thought-controlled computing; a stab-proof phone; and wait till you see who we get to hear speak on Tuesday.

Blog’ll be updated by tomorrow night, have a great evening! XO

All-Season Tires are Delusional

Last week, Canadian Tire invited me to drive on an ice rink to test tires; winter VS all-season ones.

Winter dominated.

What had the most impact on me, though, was:

50% of Canadians are driving without winter tires. I was shocked.  That’s too low and not okay.

How can 1 thing perform 5 functions?

Show me one outfit that can be worn to work, a cocktail party, a club, a movie night in, then to play baseball.  Can’t.

(read it online here)

Favourite line:

For sure I’m a bit lippy this week, but I feel strongly about this because apparently half of you are irresponsibly driving beside me in icy conditions while wearing roller-skates, thinking they’re good for all four seasons.

At 7ºC, the rubber in a non-winter tire hardens, it loses elasticity, and therefore adhesiveness.

Therefore, winter tires go on at 7ºC

The rubber in a winter tire is designed to stay flexible in low temperatures, so it sticks better to the road.

Driving with me is Graham Jeffery, Tire Business Manager with Canadian Tire, hi hi.

Deep grooves that expel snow, that’s what to look for.

Here’s a post about my new camera setup, seen above.  And I’ll leave you, with the Final Cut file.

This is what the video above, actually looks like.

My Slickest Filming System Yet

It’s a GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition.

The camera has WiFi, which talks to the app on my phone, which I use to preview and control the camera, come ON.

It’s my first GoPro. My buddy lent me his, when I drove shifter karts in the fall, but that’s it (that’s a Samsung Galaxy III, and my first Android. Thanks again, TELUS)

The app is what makes it amazing, look:

  1. – so many camera controls. The LED one is a favourite
  2. – delete files from SD card…
  3. – … and check the card’s capacity

Been dreaming about something like this since ’07. Because this, plus my iPhone, MacBook Air 11″, and I’m done. Even 2 years ago, it was 20 lbs on my back.

New electronics smell so good, eh.

This might be some of the first footage like this in Canada.

This camera isn’t available here yet, the app came out November 12th, and below is the morning of the 13th, when I drove around that ice.

First video will be, “Ice Driving – Proving Winter Tires Work”. I’ll post it Wednesday.
