Parties Parties

Love ’em!

I didn’t take many photos, too busy having fun. Then when I did they were fuzzy oops.

I was out with these lovlies, Casie Stewart, It’s Brown Barbie and Shannon.

We looked so good walking down the street, strangers took photos, ha. Too bad I don’t have one to insert here.

Do you Yelp? They do a good job. Yelp – Real People write real reviews of your local businesses.

Best ad spec of the party – a glittery bouncy ball.

We were all so hungry, moved off to our next stop, burst through the door expecting a bar scene, and instead found this:

How great is that?!

A lovely dinner, served with Molson’s newsest addition – Sublime, a lime infused 67-calorie beer. Nice and light, not limey.

The First Big Mac Virus Has Arrived

Are you on a Mac computer?  This is for you.

We Apple users have enjoyed relatively safe surfing for so long, so why now?

It’s been written that once Apple reached a 16% marketshare, only then would the financial payoff be worth the time to target Macs.

There are many different kinds of attacks (a post for another time)… this one is “scareware“… it shocks you into thinking there’s a virus on your computer, so you download the program to get rid of it, except the program is actually the virus.

The scam is running under 5 different names: MacDefender / MacGuard / MacKeeper / MacProtector / MacSecurity.

The popup windows look like this:

How do you protect yourself?

Don’t download it.

Pretty obvious huh.  Pretty crazy that people actually fall for this.

Remember – if you didn’t go searching for it, do not accept any downloads.

If You Already Downloaded It

Apple has put out an official statement on how to deal with MacDefender… click here.

They’ll be soon releasing a OS X update to search and destroy any MacDefender that may be on your hard drive.

Future Steps to Protect your Computer

You can be sure there’s way more where this came from, and much more sophisticated, too.

If you would like a Mac anti-virus program, go with Kapersky, they’re world-class.

In your browser preferences turn off “automatically open downloaded files”.

Be wise, it’s a big internet out there!

Yes I'm For Sale

Everything here at KeriBlog.com is!

Same over at The Canadian Explorer – my 3 year, 80 episode awesome Internet Show.

I realize it’s not very apparent when you look around here, this is why:

This Blog is Quite Different Than My Other One

It was always very easy with my old video blog… #1 Canada, #2 Keri.

But not here, here is different. Since this site really got going at the start of March several themes have naturally emerged:

They include (so far):

– driving and cars
– fun! I go to a lot of exciting events around Toronto. Plus I can have fun just about anywhere.
– I also explore many off-the-beaten-path destinations
– tech
– social media
– imagination and mind power
– internet memes
– cute outfits and hairstyles
– gymnastics
– online security
– books

I wasn’t comfortable to sell before now, I take such things seriously.  Now, it’s time.

I Love My Very Plain Website

Isn’t this the plainest website you ever saw?! Yup!

It’s intentional… white background, blue links, a classic layout.

A better header and a beefed up side-bar is coming, complete with ads(!), but all within reason, because I’m big on fast load times, how old school of me.

Coming Soon – *Brand New* Video Streams and Shows

Now this I am VERY excited about, more details soon.

The new shows will help shape this blog, and I’m going to keep ’em separated.  Serious & Professional Keri over there, whatever I feel like here.

What Exactly Will be For Sale?

Banner ads, video pre and post-roll, product placement, hosting engagements and speaking engagements, video-coverage-for-hire and more.

Why Buy From Me?

I’m reliable, positive and safe for work.  I’m professional and easy to work with.

I’ve had an internet show since 2007, I’m a pioneer – The Canadian Explorer

You can trust your name in my hands.

My audience is tech savvy, educated and highly engaged.

That’s one of the best reasons to buy here… I generate a high level of engagement from other influencers.  The content I create is spread through my network and generates discussions.

30% of visitors here stay for longer than an hour.

We’re a Good Fit If…

I must feel the same trusting way about you.

If you are also looking to form long-term relationship.

And I must feel good about endorsing you, it has to be a natural fit. For example, getting me to advertise cooking pots would never be believable. Similarily, if I can’t look someone in the eyes in real life and confidently recommend you, not interested.

I’ll leave you with this, my Gold Standard of Videos, Exploring the Canadian Navy. I talked my way onto a warship for 2 nights, then hitchhiked home on the plane. Go Navy!

Exploring the CDN Navy from KeriCDN on Vimeo.

Kay that’s it for now, stay tuned. I can’t wait to tell you more as it happens!

Nice to Meet You, RightSleeve

We met Thursday night at your party where you’d also invited a bunch of my old Twitter friends AND gave me an umbrella as tall as I am, thank you!

Internet – RIGHTSLEEVE is “a promotional design agency”, the print your name on things. I pawed all their stuff, and you can feel good about trusting them to put your name on somthing; their level of quality will match yours.

I’d love to have KeriBlog everything. Specifically any of these car items, this toaster using my CDN Explorer logo, or a plain black hat with KeriBlog.com written in tiny letters subtlety. Everyone would want one of those.

I know you know these two!  Casie Stewart and Shawn Hawaii, who were continuing their ongoing hipster joke that they have a baby named Triangle ahahaha, that’s funny.

Bahaha, ya I did:

That’s Phil, Ben and RIGHTSLEEVE owner Mark doing the punching.

Always good seeing you Ben!  Dude – remember when you tasked me with writing 100 words on IPs, when I was training in writing 100 words, before I went to the Olympics and wrote 100 words daily for Vancouver 24 hours?

I just did, click here to read it.

I love when people pick me up when they hug me, Rannie did too outside, did you ever see that episode we did together? Hang on…. tada!

Exploring Canadian Blogging

I have a thing for this place, the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant.

Go if you can, it’s looks just like the video game Myst.

Hosting Canada’s Largest Undergrad Tech Conference

This weekend was the 12th Annual CUTC.ca, and Casie and I hosted the event at University of Toronto.

These kids were great; all on their own volition they organized, travelled and paid their way. Pretty sure this group is indeed our future.

Introducing your hosts!

And THAT is my very own personal QR Code boom boom.

They made it for me and put it on the back of my badge, I always wanted one.  I’ve been preoccupied with QR codes since ’08, because I blogged about them over at Canadian Explorer then, ahhh the benefit of having a blog.

If you scan it it’ll kick your phone right over to here, my blog.

Non-nerds: QR Codes (quick response) are elaborate bar codes that hold a ridiculous amount of information, like a small book. They’ve been in wide use in Europe and especially Japan, and are finally making their way here. Here’s the Wiki page.

During lunch we found a video game area and settled into play our respecitve favourite games: Casie dancing, me Call of Duty.

I should really get and start using a proper camera huh.

Like Casie’s Olympus, which captured this moment of me finally meeting Adam and  Adil (below) of MyCityLives.com

They’re doing awesome things combining online video and maps,  you gotta check out their site – “you discover and share videos around your location on culture, art and entertainment”.

What’s this park like?  Now I’m watching a video educating me, this is good… like that.

From May 2011

Thanks for having us, CUTC.ca, and congratulations everyone on a successful conference!
