The Strombo Party was a Great Party

Casie, Lauren and I attended George Stroumboulopoulos’s party, which was _the_ TIFF party that night.

It was held at ONE bar inside Hazelton Hotel in Yorkville, you can stay there tonight for $1000.

Here’s the red carpet.

We were photographed and interviewed here, while those people looked on.

Fortunately the girls got better photos than me, so I went and grabbed them.

Casie and our host, George.

Toronto’s four favourite blonde bloggers.

Behind me is Amber Mac, finally we met.  She does a great job, has a million internet shows, a book; she’s been killing it online for forever.

And that’s Sarah, who introduced herself as, “hey I’m the one that stalked you on Twitter that rainy night”, ha!  Because she did.

I was tucked into a dark doorway on Queen Street in a hat a rainy night weeks ago, and she tweeted she’d spotted me driving past.  Good spy skills, lady.  (here’s her blog post about tonight).

This photo was on CBC Live.

Did you know I was CBC’s ‘inaugural made-for-web show”?  Yup.

Bono showed up, Clive Owen, John Hamm. I didn’t see any of them. I heard a rumour Bono deploys “fake Bonos” around town as decoys, funny eh.

Click here to see photos of all the famous folk who showed.

A happy me skipping home.

Last Chance to go to the CNE

Look how much fun you can have.

It’s the oldest fair in North America come ON.

And if THAT video about a fair doesn’t get you pumped, this one surely will…

Canadian Explorer Episode #4 – Exploring a Fair

This was the first episode I genuienly liked, because, this was at the 3 month mark, and by then I’d learned enough about Final Cut to make it how it looked in my head.

Editing aside – this thing was all in .mov and every time I moved even one pixel, I had to render o.m.g.

What Would You Do With the $250 000 if You were the Protector of the Caramilk Secret?

Pretty great deal, eh!

Even better is the part where if you find a key, secret agents come to your house and take you to their headquarters in Toronto for further debriefing.

And you know how I feel about spy stuff, wink.

Contest details over at the Caramilk Facebook page.

Now for my own KeriBlog contest… to win the above, answer the question in the comments:

What would you do with the $250 000 if you were the Protector of the Caramilk Secret?

There’s a total of 3 packages to be won, you must be Canadian, winners announced August 26 2011, and good luck to you!!

Full disclosure – I am being paid to promote this contest.

Watch Me Drive a Volkswagen Very Fast

One Saturday Volkswagen invited me to a parking lot by Ontario Place.

They asked which cars caught my eye, then, “okay, here. Now make it go as fast as possible around this awesome track we’ve built.” And then the angels sang.

Here’s footage from a rearview-mirror-mounted camera.

Casie cleverly filmed another round from the back seat.

I’d have stayed all day if I could.

Thanks for being great hosts, Kristi and Danie (who should be in this photo).

This is the new 2012 Beetle, and the only one in Canada.

Better, non!? Less hippie-ish, girly.

Look at the interiors, see the consistency? Mine’s a ’99, below.

Also, to talk photography for a sec, this may be one of my best framing jobs to date.

I’ll now conclude with…

… don’t VW and I match very well wink?!

This driving event was 3 weeks ago, and my car had just broke down, remember?

They emailed me shortly after, they felt my woes, how about an Eos for a week to help out?  Thank you very much yes please!

I’ve been flying around, morning drives, Grandma and errands, a road trip yesterday, and not showing up places sloppy from riding my bike.

I’ll leave you with this.

See the sign? I placed that in my parking spot when it was empty, for good luck. It worked.

Yellow arrows – that’s my parking job BOOM first time like a glooooove.
