It’s Auto Show Week so that Means Woah

200 km + 2 events + haircut + a massive interview for my column = 11:30pm I’m home.

Tomorrow is the actual auto show day, so have to cut this short since I have to be back downtown and camera ready pretty early.

Driving some of those kilometres.

Okay first stop is the 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C Spider unveiling.

Which I had to leave before the cloth came off. to make it to my interview on time. I didn’t document the boardroom, it didn’t seem appropriate but kinda regretting it now, a photo would go good here.

ingenie, coming soon to Canada – plug the device into your OBDII port, and get performance-based insurance discounts by using a safe driving style. I secured one of the few interviews about it, and they’re putting together a review unit for me try, too; neat eh.

Okay interview done, now off to the 2015 Nissan Titan reveal.

Designed by two Canadians!

Best part about these events are always the people.

The auto journalist crowd is genuinely hilarious, and I never have to dumb-down my vocabulary which is refreshing. Plus they always give me a hard time in the best way, “quick Keri, get this up on your blooooooog.”

You know those guys, Team Autonet! David Miller on the left, and Dan Barron on the right.

I’ll take more photos at the show tomorrow… probably. Whipping out your camera to document a moment completely kills it, so I err on the side of nope.

Arty rearview mirror shot.

And now it’s passed midnight, and I just realized I left a bunch of stuff freezing in the back seat so going to get that then fall on my face, TTYT

Life Admin & a Possible Speech Took Over Today

So there will be no big blog update.

Tuesday’s are my news slot at the paper, then I had to deal with all the Life Admin that’d piled up (Life Admin – the stuff you must maintain to keep a life running smoothing, such as paying bills, managing relationships, errands, and my hair’s not actually blonde eh.)

So much of today was spent on the phone. Love the phone. Like how I loop my headset around my ears?

On a day like this it’s tough to flip seamlessly to writing brain, especially if it’s technical and requires deep focus, topics like the technical differences between Static VS Variable AWD, or the math behind having a 25-character password.

Then I got real pre-occupied with this:

    BSides Vancouver

is a 2-day, high-end gathering for information security professionals, hackers, coders and the greater tech community, coming up in March.

I’m currently at 80% yes. The speech just like, flew of my fingers, and the slide presentation deck began to piece itself together WAIT, I’m going to do a word count on it hang on…. 1,141… 15 sub-topics… increase that to 85%.

That would mean my first ever speaking engagement is in front of 250 people, that are really smart like, the security crowd is discerning… got nervous just typing that.

Going to sleep on it, I always do on big decisions…. to debut in front of 250 people, plus video lives forever online…

Disappearing back into daydream-plotting mind, TTYT

Been Spending 300% More Time Outside

Never in the city was I close to outside this much in a winter. Like a good chunk of Sunday afternoon was outside, which included a Nerf competition.

Even busted out my big boots.

Here’s the #BenefitOfBlogging – I can link back to when I  bought those boots in… 2007. Same for my winter coat in 2008.

I can link up how that coat makes me look like Black SpongeBob, and my solution for winter blues.

Or here’s a video video from March 2011:

You knew this was coming.

Me Earlier this Week

All arms and elbows.

Thanks for the photo, Zack! MotorMouth Canada

Shoulder is burning from writing all day boy, does that ever feel ridiculous to type… like, imagine admitting that to a roofer… actually, I wouldn’t.

And with that I wish you a bon weekend!

Can’t Hear you Over these Deadlines

Friday’s are always heavy, but tomorrow is stacked five deep oh boy.

But then at 5pm the best thing happened – found out I’d got a due date wrong, and one deadline isn’t actually till next Friday niiiiice.

Still though, I am drowning in work… mmm, it’s been a while since I posted my help wanted ad, let’s try again hang on, I’ll go dig it up….

Have a good Thursday night, best night of the week! TTYT
