An Electric Car from 1919

That’s 93 years old.

Use the levers to steer.

… almost a century ago, an engine powered by electricity, and that can store electricity, strong enough to propel a car with 4 people…

Is your eyebrow raised, too?

It Bubbles Down the Road

Nissan Juke – Starting at $19,998  – This one $29,500

It’s actually a four door, look again. I chose a photo filter that highlighted the rear doors, but in real life they’re more hidden.

When I picked it up, the guys said they’d just pulled the tape off the hood.

See the re-tweet? Ahaa thank you Nissan, for condoning my behaviour ;)

Inside and out, the Juke has a real cohesive look, and best I can describe it is: bubbly.

This vehicle was poloarizing – people either loved or hated it, no in-between.  Personally,  it was too curly-cue and swoopy.

Top right – excellent hazard button location. Nice finishing, and the heated seasts got crazy hot.

My photos aren’t doing a good job of showing the bubblyness, hang on I’ll go find a professional one …

Handled great, more than enough engine for the average driver.

Ideal for a city-living single person or couple; more than two, and it’d be tight.

The LA Auto Show Started Today

Non-car nerds: this is a huge-deal show – important new vehicle debuts happen here.  I was there last year, with Ford.

Despite the world’s worst thumbnail, it’s a fun 1:15 video.

(original post)

This year, my editor Joe, and 3 team members are there, follow the news here on Autonet.ca.

It’s one of the best places for show coverage in Canada, and, and there’ll be great wrap-up slideshows on the weekend. I’m not saying this because it’s my team, it’s because I lucked out with this job, and joined the team.

My article today.

First time EVER, that a car company allowed a designer to modify the body of their vehicle. Ususally it’s more like interior colours, and the look & feel.

Read it online here.

About the new Fiat 500c Abarth. I’ve never driven a Fiat, and after reading up, would really like to.

Get a Roadside Assistance Plan

If your car breaks down, what’s the plan to move an immovable hunk of metal?

New cars are not immune… flat tire / out of gas / missing keys … It’s like buying a feeling almost… that wherever I may get stuck, I dial a number and a helpful truck and driver just, show up.

Favourite line:

[what do you do when] a car stops, and turns into a giant, immovable mass of metal, for which you’re responsible?

A correction:

Second last paragraph, first sentence, it says “used cars are not immune”, but that should say “new cars”

The 2 Types of Roadside Assistance Plans

Check with your dealer for details, but as a general rule:

Dealer Roadside Assistance

  • tows you to nearest dealership
  • covers your vehicle

Auto Club Roadside Assistance (eg. CAA)

  • tows you to wherever you ask
  • covers you the person, so even if you’re driving a friend’s car, you’re still covered

Mini-cover, third down.

CAA has saved me so many times, I have a blog section just for them – CAA
