Happy #pcto2011 To You

I’ve enjoyed #PodCamp Toronto every year I go. Know how you know it’s a nice crowd? I’ll bet all the jackets were there at the end of the day.

I toured through several pods…that’s Lauren O’nizzle waxing eloquently on social media…that’s good advice about sub-titling your YouTube videos.

He’s totally right, YouTube is right behind Google as a top-used search-engine. I’m the WORST for all that stuff. Ever seen my Canadian Explorer YouTube? Good luck finding anything… I can’t, and I own it.

It’s the between-the-sessions stuff and meet ups that are always the best part of these things, and thanks to all the volunteers for putting on a great event.

You’d think I’d have-self-portraits down by now.  I took two to avoid this.

This is 'Morning Drive'

I invented it 10 years ago, it’s called “Morning Drive” and may I recommend you try it, too.

Remember, no going places! It’s not about that… it’s more for meandering and ruminating.

And did that floor you too? Toronto being the 5th largest city in North America?!

Here’s a shot of that satellite farm… if you watch TV in the GTA, it likely came through here.

And here’s the map of the route.

Doesn’t My Hair Look Great?

Ahhh Rose. If you need your hair done here’s your girl.

Long time we’ve known each other eh lady? Remember when you did that high ponytail for my tutu outifit, introduced me to those two cool opera girls, oh and when you cut my bangs with angels on your scissors that time? Thank you missy!

This is my favourite photo of us, Keebler Elves. We’re actually signing up to carry the Torch back in 2008 here; neither of us got a call back.

I Fit a Profile Last Sunday

I was driving in Cherry Beach when a car watched me go by and altered its course to follow me. I drove around a blind corner, parked up and waited. Sure enough 30 seconds later it rounded the corner too, real slow like, and pulled up beside me.

I put down my window, “what’s up man?” and now he’s stopped, silently staring, then says, “you selling?” and makes a motion like he’s smoking. Shake my head no. He pulls away, and below is him turning around for a second pass at me, and it’s a stare-off.

Guess my car and I fit the profile of a dealer.

Poor John's Fed Me

Poor John’s Cafe is a little place in Parkdale who gave themselves a facelift for their 5th Anniversary, congratulations!

I’ve been here a few times, before their transformation, at the behest of some locals… that’s how you know they’re good, local word-of-mouth. Likely has to do with their commitment to genuineness… John’s mom bakes the bread, Kristine is using her mom’s curry chicken recipes, like that.

Meet owners Khristine and John, their work ethic is impressive.

Below is chef Brenden, and what I recommend you order.

Go for the french toast or their signature sandwich the BAM – brie, avacado and mango. Those were my favourites and guys: you got me to eat fruit, good job, that’s tough to do.

Click here for their Facebook page, and they’re throwing a party December 11 which might be a nice place to take your date.

All day breakfast, liscensed, a summer patio, fair trade coffee and a free psychic reading the first Wednesday of each month.

(Lastly, in keeping with full disclosure, I was invited here and my meal paid for).
