The Sky Really is Bigger in Alberta

I was there with Ford, to test trucks, their newly-refreshed F-series.

We landed in Calgary, then a 100 km-ish drive to Drumheller, dinosaur capital of the world. And a small, quiet town; news of our trip made the papers.

Dinner was in the even smaller city of Wayne.

Population 27, above is the only business.

Which is an awesome place – Last Chance Saloon.

The gentleman far right would conduct the behind-the-scenes dinosaur museum tour the following day.

The place doesn’t even get cell service, everyone’s phones went to E and it was like olden times; loved it.

At the Saloon, you BBQ your own delicious Alberta AAAA amazingness.

Or in my case: put on grill, go find help (thanks Jeff!)

By far my favourite truck of the trip was obviously.

(non-car nerds: this is a beast of a pick-up truck,
Ford’s crown pickup jewel that attacks all terrain)

I have off-roading footage to edit, best part of the day.  And I made a video about towing, look for it Thursday.

Thanks for inviting KeriBlog.com along Ford, I had a great time.

Speed Doesn’t Kill, Slowness Does

The Solomon Curve shows the relationship between average speed and collision rates.

Drivers at the greatest risk are those moving slower than the rest of traffic.

Favourite line:

The fastest way to get in a crash, is to go slow.

Interesting eh – speed doesn’t kill, slowness does.

And really, if the road feels too fast for you, stay off of it.

This is My Car Stereo

The radio’s been locked for years since a battery failure, and the screen broke so I can’t see to enter the codes.

I have the codes because I blogged them, see:

Security is relative.

For a while I played, “get the code before it kicks me out after 2 failed attempts”, but it got old. So I just listened to silence, then in February found that egg in the States. It’s  ‘As Seen on TV’, love that stuff.

The car is a ’99 Jetta.

The song is composer Philip Glass, titled La Belle & la Bête, played by Angele Dubeau & La Pieta.

Windshield Glass Breaks Like This

Windshields are two pieces of glass, sandwiching a piece of laminate.

That’s the part that keeps the glass together, instead of disintegrating onto the driver.

Spotted in a Etobicoke parking lot.
