The Fondest Memories of the 4th Generation Civic

It was on display at the Indy.

Saw it and poof, was instantly awash with memories.

Maybe you are now too… remember these? Everyone and their dog had one, ahh remember discovering “the open road”… that crowd that customized this car had this great energy… remember the firsts…

Remember when 92 hp made us so happy.

Spent the Afternoon with Honda at the Track

Honda invited my blog to Mosport today, for their #TameTheTrack event in celebration of this weekend’s Indy race. Easily one of the best events I’ve attended.

First, I drove an open-wheel Formula F car.

Then a gokart race. I won my heat, and had the fastest lap time of the whole day.

Then, my first track time. A Civic Si around the development track for 45 minutes!

I have video, a ton of photos, and next week’s column is about mind control.

Because I’d put my concentration skills up against anyone’s, but by the end of that 45 I was losing it. And that these racers can focus intensely for 2 hours seems superhuman to me.

Thank you Honda! And how appropriate it was you to give me my first track time.

In BC with Hyundai and their Genesis

Flew in yesterday, here till tomorrow. We’re staying at a Swarovski hotel, so there are crystals everywhere, literally.

It’s a total refresh on the 2015 Genesis, Hyundai’s premium sedan. I’m typing this the presentation room waiting for it to start, then it’s a windy drive route all day, first in the V6 then the V8.

Here’s a few photos, class is starting soon TTYL.

A helipad.

And inside the hotel.

Went to Louisville, Kentucky with Chrysler

Stayed in another 21C Museum Hotel, here’s the one in Cincinnati. They’re neat.

It’s just as it sounds: a slick hotel, with constantly rotating art everywhere. Their symbol is a penguin, there’s 3 hotels in total.

We are here because ouside the city Kentucky has beautiful, windy roads to drive on.

Heels :O

I don’t really get art.

This is broken beer bottles.

Now this art I get.

Camera and projector, then the letters were like magnets, and stuck to you.

Welcome to my blog Daniel!

Launch lunch.

What I saw the most of my 2 nights in Kentucky.

Remember I said I’m somehow doing it wrong? Perfect example: how did I not get to take off, on a 3-hr exploration of the city, I even had a new car to do it in.

Part of the launch was at the baseball stadium.

Kentucky has nice manners, even by Canadian standards.

Apparently our Canadian wave lucked out, and we got the best weather of the weeks-long launch.

Here’s my review on Autonet, of the 2015 Chrysler 200.

Last Week was a Whirlwind that Isn’t Over

Flew home Saturday.

I love airports. Have a half-drafted post why. Blog category = Airports.

My plane landed 20 minutes early, then through customs in maybe my fastest time ever…. all to sit traffic. First gear and 90 minutes to get home. Traffic is ruining Toronto.

I was so wiped. So I cheersed myself for getting coverage for 3 outlets on 1 trip, then didn’t see 9pm.

It was great trip. Kentucky has fun and windy roads, and we lucked out with the best weather in weeks.

This is what I was testing – Chrylser’s all-new 200.

They did a great job, my review will be live soon on Autonet.

The newspaper recently changed the deadline structure for car launches, and it’s no longer a week, but due this morning. And reviews still take me forever, 8 hours anyway. I have another half-drafted post why (short answer: dispensing advice on how to spend $35,000 is serious).

Filmed a video too, that footage will get edited this week. Below is a still.

Beep beep I’m driving here.

Tomorrow is Car Swap Day, it’s a Ford Fusion this week. And to write the news, 2 meetings, oh Mondays are always so fast-forward eh.

Took a hockey game break tonight.

Replaced my broken hat.

And I have to get back to photo editing now, TTYL
