I Miss My View

Feb 20 2012

This was my view for 3 years.

That’s the cutest airport, Porter.

The shortest ferry ride in the world.

Different filers on my Olympus PEN.

There’s CBC, my first job when moving here.

I ended up becoming their inaugural made-for-web-show.

TheCanadianExplorer.com

Can you picture me standing at the bottom of the Rogers sign the night I guarded ACDC? Ha.

Woah this winter weather this is outstanding!

Thanks for a great visit home, Toronto, see you in the spring!!

PS – Gah, just realized: how can I not have a ‘Toronto’ blog category? Now I do.

I'm Homeless Until Tonight

Feb 18 2012

I’m between my hotel and next destination.

I don’t have a home in Toronto right now, my lease expired the day I left for my winter 2012 tour of “Avoiding Winter”.

In the elevator on my way out.

20120218-172648.jpg

I have photos of my room and a little story.

All my belongings may be seen in this photo.

20120218-172859.jpg

It’s a funny feeling… where do you go? Try to make a list in your head, see?

Coffee shop? Restaurant or bar? You have to spend money to be there.

Are there stairs? To drag my bag up and down. And where will I put my bag?

The answer is… the mall.

Off I roll.

20120218-173520.jpg

Then I cut through The Sheraton to warm up, oh I see a chair free…

20120218-173623.jpg

One of my favorite hidden gems in downtown.

Look.

20120218-173758.jpg

I have a great post at this place for my security show, SmartenUpInternet.com.

20120218-174003.jpg

Think I’ll stay here for a bit. I’m blending in well with my suitcase.

Ttyl.

PS – I’m posting this in a way that circumvents my photo uploading issue, which is making me nuts because I can’t figure it out, NUTS.

I'm Baaaaaack

Feb 15 2012

Ohhhh it’s nice to be in my own country. I’m enjoying tremendously my time down south, but it’s tough to beat Canada.

20120215-224927.jpg

Did you know Canadian customs canNOT read what US customs wrote on your passport? Think about that.

Took me a minute to remember my Visa pin number. We are ahead of the States in credit card security.

20120215-225104.jpg

I celebrated it for three years because Canada really is the best country there is.

It’s clean here, safe, friendly, and you can do and be how you like and we’re like, oh okay cool. Plus we’re known around the world as polite and promoters of peace. How beautiful.

And so very worth protecting. Please do that.

Autoshow tomorrow! TTY then.

What South Beach Florida Looks Like

Feb 12 2012

Out at night on Ocean Drive.

I talk some about my time there in this video. One night I went to the Belvedere then closed down Mangoes ahahaha that’s so tacky.

Basically I concentrated all my efforts on having fun, so above plus below is the sum total of my South Beach documentation.

One time I saw a FedEx truck impale itself where the arrow is pointing.

Closest I ever make it to the beach.

Yes.

What the Florida Keys Looks Like

Jan 31 2012

Neat filter on my photos, don’t you think.

I did it at the camera level with my PEN, it’s called “Pop Art”.

Florida has the best mini-putt courses.

The people who built the bridge to the Keys from the mainland, they lived on this little island in 1910.

The really really long bridge is here, the 7 Mile Bridge.

The one they blew up in the Shwartzenager movie , ‘True Lies’.

Manatees are the cutest.

Nickname: Sea Cow.  An un-official mascot of the Keys.  Everybody loves a Manatee.

It’s sad though, when you see them with chewed-up fins and gouges in their backs; they often swim too close too boats.

It’s not their fault, they’re too dumb to know better.

It’s the kind of place you can still leave your doors unlocked.

People don’t litter, people are friendly and funny, it’s safe, and all the nature is fiercely protected.

If you get to visit here, don’t be a d-bag.
