I'm in Detroit at the NAIAS Auto Show

It’s NAIAS – the North American International Auto Show. Biggest auto show of the year.

I’m travelling with Infiniti & Nissan, representing Sun Media.

This isn’t at all my first auto show, but definitely my most official.

Usually it’s just me and my blog who cares, but not this time.

Here’s my schedule:

Monday

7:15      North American ‘Car of the Year’
9:45      Infiniti
1:50      Honda

Tuesday

8:10      Nissan
10:40     Acura

(I’m doing this as much for my own reference, as for yours)

Those are the time slots of the “big reveals“, when the company unveils their new 2014 models. Apparently, the reveals here are huge. At other shows, they pull off the silk and tada. Here in Detorit, I’ve heard of a herd of cattle running alongside a car, a pickup dropped from two stories up, like that.

All right, game ON. I really liked my column last week (Tip the Valet twice), and this coming week (Let’s Go Wardriving), so I feel good about that. I keep reminding myself I already know how to do this all, this is just a bit more pressure is all.

2013 Nissan Titan SL Crew Cab

Starting at – $39,898
This one – $51,648

Clean interior styling, woodgrain touches class it up, and the backseat is giant; 2 huge men can fit easy.

A Titan will fit in underground parking lot, but it’s tight.

Bottom left – I loved that long narrow area, to shove 8.5 x 11″ papers into, handy.

It happened so naturally.

Being the largest thing on the road was great.

 

 

These are Called Wheel Locks

They’re specialized lug nuts for your wheels and rims. You put one on each wheel, the remaining nuts are the normal ones.

They must be unlocked with a key before they can be removed.

They deter theft, not prevent it.

They can still be removed without the key, just takes longer.

A skilled team of thieves will approach a car, and 1 minute later be gone with all four tires and rims, leaving your car on blocks.  And if you have nice rims and tires, see you later 1000s of dollars.
