Holiday Parties are the Best Part

Of anything Christmas related the parties are the best part.  I went to a ton this year, but the top two were HoHoTO and The Biz Media one.

At HoHoTO I had such a great time I forgot to take any photos.  This is me before I walked out the door.

This party was great because all the best people come out, like, it’s a quality guest list that somehow the douchebags get weeded out from, and it’s all for charity, specifically The Daily Food Bank.

For $150 you can feed a whole family for a month.  Pretty good deal, eh.  They need donations all year long, hint.

At The Biz Media event, that was just a classy affair.  Lots of food, drinks, an Emulator: the world’s first multitouch midi controller for DJs and… a Hanukkah bush… when was the last time you saw one of those?

Wonder if anyone actually ate them off the tree.  They were real, it was possible, I might have pawed a bunch.

Are You Finishing Things Before 2011?

I’m on a tight schedule to complete the list I made a few weeks back. Tonight I crossed off one item with an email.

This is me settling in and pulling up the rough draft.

I’m actually facing a packed Library Room and get this, in the corner table for 4 alone all spread out, how lucky did that work out.

Cobb salad and head down for 90 minutes.

I wanted to get you a photo so bad but my BB battery had died. I think I have to get a new phone ugh. Wait why didn’t I just turn my laptop around.

Kay done, let’s go borrow some wireless.

Why such surroundings for an email?

I think the way you finish something shapes and defines it, and this was a very old thing I put my whole heart into and so deserved to be closed off in nice surroundings, a tip of my hat to it see ya later this is your send off.

PS – Ha, kay when I linked up Library Room I couldn’t find you an image because there don’t seem to be any?, anyway I’m going to be tagging this post “Library Room” and adding to the problem.

Poor John's Fed Me

Poor John’s Cafe is a little place in Parkdale who gave themselves a facelift for their 5th Anniversary, congratulations!

I’ve been here a few times, before their transformation, at the behest of some locals… that’s how you know they’re good, local word-of-mouth. Likely has to do with their commitment to genuineness… John’s mom bakes the bread, Kristine is using her mom’s curry chicken recipes, like that.

Meet owners Khristine and John, their work ethic is impressive.

Below is chef Brenden, and what I recommend you order.

Go for the french toast or their signature sandwich the BAM – brie, avacado and mango. Those were my favourites and guys: you got me to eat fruit, good job, that’s tough to do.

Click here for their Facebook page, and they’re throwing a party December 11 which might be a nice place to take your date.

All day breakfast, liscensed, a summer patio, fair trade coffee and a free psychic reading the first Wednesday of each month.

(Lastly, in keeping with full disclosure, I was invited here and my meal paid for).

The Last Day of Mo

Way to go to all you fellas for making Canada the largest financial contributor this year to men’s prostate cancer research in the world via Movember!  And last day for itchy face.

Went to the gala last Thursday where Casie and I were judges for “Best Mo in Character”.

This is us walking up and judging you.

Click here for her blog post, rich in photos.

I was talking with this guy who made a good point; Movember has changed the way men think about grooming and like, made it okay to get into it without feeling all metrosexual.

Below is the trio I wanted to win, but the Hulk won… turns out he always wins?!

Congratulations, Movember Foundation, here’s to your most successful year yet!

And have a great shave today fellas, don’t feel sad, it’s time ;)

To India for a Night

Smirnoff threw 14 parties simultaneously around the world Saturday, 2 cities each trading cultures… us with India.  Click here to see photos of their Toronto party, they did great.  Last time I was at a Smirnoff party was the Windsor Arms, but as a security guard not guest.
