About Sound Systems in Cars

May 25 2015

Speaking with an audio expert if it’s worth it to buy the audio system upgrade, how a siren will pierce through the cabin filled with music, can your ears really bleed, and the dumbest thing someone’s asked him to install.

Read it online at Autonet.

Favourite line

A siren’s frequency, around 2,000 hertz (Hz), is what pierces through my music, ensuring it is heard.

How Loud Stuff Is

Nov 28 2012

dB – sound is measured in decibels

Interesting:

– buildings can crumble using sound.  There’s a theory, that that’s how the Egyptians cut stone so perfectly (a dollar bill can’t fit between the pyramid stones)

– the threshold of pain is 120 dB

– below is a box of $20 headphones.

Hearing doesn’t grow back, eh.
