I Feel Bad for Steel

I’m suspicious when a fad takes off quickly. So it’s with a raised eyebrow when reading about the shift in manufacturing from steel to aluminum.

To learn more I speak with Dr. Jody Hall, Vice President of the automotive market at the Steel Market Development Institute.

Short answer – steel will win.

It’s not the first time aluminum has tried a takeover? “This isn’t the first cycle Keri, it’s just the latest,” she says.

It’s not as environmentally-friendly as you may think, it’s expensive to convert a factory from steel to aluminum, and maybe most shocking is that the two types of materials cannot be serviced by the same tools, or in the same service bay. What body shop can afford to duplicate everything?

Read it online at Autonet.

Hall explains that it takes more energy to produce aluminum than steel, and it produces an abundance of CO2 and emissions. “You’ve contributed to global warming before you even turn the key,” she says.

My Brain Abandoned Me

No dramatics guys, really.

Ever since I quit the newspaper it just like, up and left. Haven’t seen it since. Have you?

How long has it been? Have to look that up hang on……. August 19 woah, exactly 1 month today.

Genuinely thought I’d be fully bounced back by now. Bet you are shaking your head at me, bet you saw this coming before I did, because forest-for-the-trees and all that.

KeriBlog.com – showing you how to
burn yourself out, year after year.

It’s like my drive disappeared along with my mind, double-abondonament. Is this what normal people live like? 5pm hits and power down, kill the hours till bed with nothing productive, and not caring?

I’m chalking it up to maintaining 3 jobs for so long that my body is forcing me to recuperate. And they’ll both come back, because I refuse to believe otherwise.

They just have to… right?

Least it’s been a good growly week with this Mustang GT.

Anyway, hi hi from my Surveillance Chair, that’s where this post is coming from.

My neighbour just popped his head out to inform me the street gathered together yesterday to debate firing me, because I’m not “on duty enough.”

Showing them right now ha.

Fiiiiine I’ll Fix my LinkedIn Account

It amuses me so much, how terrible my account is.  This post is documenting the bad before I improve it.

Above was posted about 18 months ago.

The below photo is from 2009.  I’m like a real estate agent that way.

The red arrow is the best part, because of its rarity…

… a non-real-name, fully functional LinkedIn account.

My last name has no vowels (Keri CDN was my handle 2007-2010.)

That’s not my Twitter, closed in 2010, oh @KeriBlog

That is my physical address though, if you’d like to mail me something nice.

Why is this so funny?

Because my blog and I have been flown around North America, gained access to some amazing places, and tested $10 million+ in cars… all without a LinkedIn OR an About Page.

Come on that’s funny.

When’d you last hear that? Okay not the most popular sport * I know… but still, ehhh?!

Some automakers contributed to my nonsense, I have these from a few OEMs – it’s the document you sign when picking up a press car haha thanks guys!

I kept my last name offline for 5 years. My Google account is part of the 0.0002% range. My Facebook account isn’t a real-name either, it’s also Keri CDN.

My health card has a red stripe.

See, funny.

No mention, or link, to KeriBlog.com… anywhere.  Or 3 years being the Featured Author at the newspaper.

Last updated February 2010.

But!

I’m at that point where continued reticence will be my downfall, okay so game over, here we go.

About pages coming next.

* Just to say it, this isn’t that weird, I’m not the only one who likes this game, and lots are better at it… I know someone who got a credit card in their handle phft.
