You know those bugs with beige bodies and tiny moth-y wings, they travel in clouds, and if you walk through one, you’ll inhale some because they’re so tiny.
He was that kind of bug.
I don’t know how, but he’s been with me since last year. He’d welcome me home from a trip, or surprise me in the laundry room; I saved him from going onto the balcony mid-winter. I’d DustBuster around him, marvelling at how long he was living.
He was the closet thing I’ve had to a pet, since a goldfish 15 years ago. He will be missed.
