More Back-of-Steering-Wheel-Buttons Please

Nov 2 2015

The buttons control the radio, leaving your hands where they should be – on the steering wheel.

Use the buttons on the left to move through the preset station list, and volume is on the right.

It’s one of those features that seems little, but has a huge impact. Especially if you’re like me, and constantly hitting seek seek seek for a good song.

Found on some Chryslers, and most General Motors vehicles.

Clockwise from top = 2016 Chevy Tahoe, 2016 Chevy Equinox, 2016 GMC Canyon

Biggest ‘Trip Reset’ Button I’ve ever Seen

Jul 15 2015

In what scenario is this necessary?

Like, “hit the trip reset COME ON now now now, we need to zero it noooooow” – nope.

Only one I can think of is during a rally, but that’s a stretch.

Spotted on a Nissan Pathfinder.

Hard Buttons are Coming Back

Mar 23 2015

Let this please be a trend – replacing all this touch-control nonsense and revert back to hard buttons.

Because touch is the opposite of ergonomic, and practically impossible to use without looking, which defeats its purpose.

This is the all-new 2015 Ford Edge.

Ford Brings Back the Hard Buttons!

Nov 28 2014

Found on the new 2016 Ford Explorer.  It’s replacing a touch-based console.

This photo was taken during the SUV’s advance-reveal at the LA Auto Show.  When the announcement was made, the room cheered.

Welcome Back, Buttons and nice one, Ford.

***

Why I don’t like touch consoles:

Ideally these buttons can be used while your eyes remain on the road… so where’s the logic in using touch, a non-tactile interface which requires more looking? Haptic just makes it worse.
