Ford’s keeps a ‘Futurist’ on Staff

Feb 19 2014

A real life pattern-recognition machine!  She predicts upcoming trends, then suggests to Ford how to best prepare for them. For someone with a blog section dedicated to Predictions ya, so into it.

Meet Sheryl Connelly, who was delightful.

Read it online at Autonet.

Favourite line:

Trends move slower than we think, about three years at a time, while a fad comes and goes quickly. Example: jeans are a trend, while the style of jeans (e.g. skinny or bootcut) are a fad.

Tires, braking, snow plows and sensors – tips for driving during this year’s never-ending winter. Check the sensors!

Read it online at Autonet.ca.

Favourite line:

When was the last time checked any of the sensors before climbing behind the wheel and relying on them?

Camouflaging Cars

Feb 5 2014

When testing a new model, manufacturers disguise the cars from curious, long camera lenses… a leaked shot of an upcoming debut really sucks the drama away.

So many automakers keep a Camo Expert on staff.

The goal is to trick the eye into seeing something that’s not there.

How? The camo makes it difficult for a camera lens to focus, or sometimes an infrared-absorbing paint is used, B&W swirly paint can make convex appear concave, or the shape of the car is altered using styrofoam and fake body parts.

Read it online at Autonet.

Favourite line:

There are different types of camo, but both always mask the two most important design features – the grille and tail lights.

Biggest Vehicle I Ever Reviewed

Feb 4 2014

The 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 & the GMC Sierra Denali 3500

Read in on Autonet.ca

Chevy Jump Truck

Both badges are powered by a Duramax 6.6L V8 Turbo diesel, outputting 397-horsepower and wait of it… 765 lb-ft of torque COME on.

Assume the position: trucker stance.

The hood and I are the same height.

So arty.

Dichotomy.

And That’s the 1st Month Complete

Jan 31 2014

Before long I’ll be typing, and you’ll be reading: 4/12 or 33%

Had a good ending to the month.

Flew in last night, writing on the plane, and at dinner, probably 3,000 words today, curated 400 photos to 26, and tada, my fastest turn around time ever for a First Drive Car Review. Feel like that’s a real auto journalist accomplishment.

About GM’s 2015 Chevy Silverado & GMC Sierra on Autonet.ca. Prints next week.

And today marks done: challenge score = 100% on “blog updated daily Monday – Friday”. Said when I did, it’ll be added to my Twitter bio, kk, will.

Next week’s column was fun to research, “About Car Cloaking / Car Camo“.

Screenshot from a video I filmed  yesterday.

So massive, the biggest thing I ever reviewed, easily for sure.

Looks like OOK Incorporated’s recent staff expansion is successful, the 3-month mark has passed. I’ll introduce you soon. He’s how this following list can be published:

Next Week’s Videos:

– Chrysler’s slick seat system, it’s Stow-N-Go Technology!
– I’m typing fast
– I’m on a trampoline

Made a couple new headers.

Haha, but not a header.

Happy Chinese New Year today to you!
May you get exactly what you wish for this year.

Have a great weekend xo TTY Monday
