I was So So So So So So So SOOOO Lucky

That’s my keyless entry fob, so luckily jammed into the trunk lid.

I found it after driving ohhh 10 km at 80 km/h. I’d broken my routine and placed it atop the roof, instead of in the cup holder, and the one time I break habit…

Imagine if it’d flown off? I’d have not known until the car ground to a halt. Then a sad walk backwards looking for the thing, then comes the worst part: calling Honda, “hi I’m a bonehead and your car is stuck here now…”

*wipes forehead*

They just arrived, from all the way far out of town at that. Good friends eh xo

And with housewarming gifts, all of which had a wish attached to them:

Honey – May you always enjoy the sweetness of life.
Knives – May your home always be protected from intruders.
Olive Oil – May you be blessed with health and well-being.
Plants – May your home always have life.
Rice – May the love in your home multiply.
Salt – May there always be flavour and spice in your life.
Wine – May you always have joy and never go thirsty.
Wood – May your home have stability, harmony, and peace.

And a broom too, because I am a witch? Could be.

Went Downtown and Got You a HotDog

Going downtown is now an event. Today was about the 8th time, since July. When there I’m like woah, I used to live in this?!

Ran a couple contractors through my house this morning, then interviewed the chief marketing manager for Nissan for next week’s column, “Why don’t some cars come to Canada?”

Then downtown for Canadian Tire’s annual event, “These are the spring trends.”

Last year I jumped on their trampoline.

Original post.

More running around, a meeting about making videos for someone (looks like it’s a go, tell ya more soon), and tomorrow’s deadline Friday so gotta go, will leave you with the shish-kabob I got you too, TTYT

Introducing the Nuix & KeriBlog Security Series

Announcing the launch of an all-new security series here on KeriBlog, brought to you by Nuix and KeriBlog.com.

I’m especially excited to get Nuix’s input on the posts, because I am no expert, and the type of topics we’ll talk about is baby stuff for them.

Who is Nuix?

Found in 45 countries around the world, Nuix specializes in threat intelligence, and works with some of the world’s leading enterprises and regulatory agencies, law enforcement and anti-corruption bodies, federal government departments, and advisory firms.

They’re a technology company that enable people to make fact-based decisions from analyzing and extracting knowledge from unstructured data.

Think of it like an “Anomaly Machine” – upload any type of file (logs, emails, documents), and it will hoover up the text and help you find patterns among thousands+ of files.

We’ll make it so you don’t
recoil in horror seeing this:

About the Security Series

We’ve designed an 8-part series to teach you about how to stay safe online. Our first topic is passwords. Did you know that with the help of a tool, I can make 25 billion password guesses, per second. Billion.

Upcoming topics:

  1. Passwords
  2. So You Clicked on a Bad link
  3. Malware, Viruses, Trojans and more
  4. What is a Pentest and why you need one
  5. XSS is not your friend
  6. Let’s go Phishing
  7. The MITM Attack
  8. Securing a WordPress site

And they’re going to attack me. Neat eh.

I’ll be the guinnea pig, and they’ll attempt (and probably succeed) in breaching my social media accounts, blog, and email to show you how easy it is to be compromised.

Remember the golden rule of online security:
it’s only as good as YOU make it.

Small business owners – a responsibility comes with accepting credit cards and customer’s personal information, conduct your business security accordingly.

Sideview Cameras are the New Thing

They’re starting to arrive on 2015 models.

How it works:

Push the button on the turn signal, and the camera mounted beneath the passenger side view mirror turns on, and displays what it sees on the dash screen.

I don’t like it because it pulls my eyes
off the road & kills my night vision.

Instead of turning my head and keeping my eyes on the road, I have to look down and into the cabin, now my eyes must adjust to the depth and light change, then I have to refocus back on the road.

I’m not seeing logic nor increased efficiency.

Not picking on Honda, they’re one of the first to bring this to market and that’s impressive, these things aren’t cheap to install, but they are not for me.
