Quick Post of Miscellaneousness

Apr 2 2014

This week’s car is a 2014 Ford Escape.

This week’s car is going to have better-than-usual blog photos.

My laptop and I, going around the city.

Stopped by an eBay party at the Hazelton.

They put on a great Mother’s Day Collective: unique gift ideas, made by up-and-coming Canadian artists, that eBay lends a hand up to.  That’s Monique Chan’s “Radiant Necklace” by her studio MoonRox, $70, here’s the link.

Bottom pic: good camera-awareness, missy.

Will work from wherever.

Last week’s car, next week’s blog review – Ford’s 2014 Fusion.

I’m liking that collage, that may be my new format for the sidebar ‘This Week’s Car’…

My column printed today – Fuel Economy Ratings get a Dose of Reality.

And confirmed: it’s a pretty impossible fit, the backseat of an F-TYPE.

Fastest Growing Segment on Earth = Utility Vehicle

Mar 13 2014

It’s beating the other segments by quite a bit.

The planet is into the utility vehicle.  That’s why we’re seeing the introduction of the, “Compact Utility” segment, same but smaller, utilities for all.

These slides are from a Ford unveiling at the LA Auto Show.

This is their utility lineup.

If you’re in the market, test their Ford Escape: it’s wildly loved and many owners buy again, has a secret compartment, and is good value for money.

I tested the 2013 on a tiny track, here’s a video.

Ford’s keeps a ‘Futurist’ on Staff

Feb 19 2014

A real life pattern-recognition machine!  She predicts upcoming trends, then suggests to Ford how to best prepare for them. For someone with a blog section dedicated to Predictions ya, so into it.

Meet Sheryl Connelly, who was delightful.

Read it online at Autonet.

Favourite line:

Trends move slower than we think, about three years at a time, while a fad comes and goes quickly. Example: jeans are a trend, while the style of jeans (e.g. skinny or bootcut) are a fad.
