Auto Security 40 Years Ago

Jan 26 2015

If I was blogging about auto security back then, here’s what I’d be saying.

– when parking, turn off the ignition and take the key with you

– when returning to your parked car, make sure both your licence plate and VIN number plate aren’t missing

– remember to add a gas line shut-off lock

– they had car alarms back then

My Dream Supercar – a McLaren

Jan 23 2015

This is a 2015 McLaren 650S Spider

In my dream though, I’m happy with any McLaren model.

So many new blog headers.

This model has ready… $100,000 IN OPTIONS.

Mine would have the least features, in fact, I’d pay more to have things deleted.

And not covered in carbon fiber.

I like them best because they’re subtle.

Ferrari is so flash, Lambo too, this is more understated.

Engine Specs

A twin turbo V8 outputting 641 hp and 500 lb.ft.
7-speed automatic
Top speed – 333 km/h
0 – 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds

Phft.

Below is one of my best pics in a while.

Why Canada Doesn’t always Get the Car

Jan 22 2015

Maybe you’ve fallen for a car only to discover the automaker doesn’t sell them in Canada. Why?

Bringing 1 car to 1 country can involve
modifying 1,500+ parts

Read it online at Autonet.

Favourite line:

Consumers would see only a few major changes Nissan made to the car, but behind the scenes over 1,500 parts had to be modified to accommodate our Canadian needs.

Trying out Ford’s Virtual Reality Room

Jan 21 2015

This is Ford’s main Virtual Reality lab, in the world.

How it works:

Before even a prototype vehicle is built, it’s presented and analyzed to find fit-and-finish errors, quality control issues, aerodynamics, ergonomics, visibility and design flaws. Just about anything the customer will experience is replicated here.

For example – the fuse door on the new Mustang would have hit the dash when opened, so that was altered before the car went into production.

Soon as the helmet went on, my instinct was to reach out and try to touch the car.

I know *typed with rolling eyes*

Why oh why didn’t I take a photo throughout the goggles?

The red cameras are the the ones that track your movements.

2015 Range Rover Sport Supercharged V8

Jan 19 2015

I drove into the new year in a 2015 Range Rover Sport Supercharged V8 Autobiography Dynamic Edition PHFT.

It was more of an aggressive assault than drive, because look at the specs on this thing:

V8 Supercharged 5.0 L
510 hp and 461 lb-ft.
0 – 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds
Starting at $104,990

Now this is the proper way to kick off a new year.

Every feature you could want and then some – heated windshield; a massive moonroof; automatic high beams; the hazard button initiates on its own under extreme braking; all seats are heated and cooled; all riding on 21″ wheels.

There’s even… a cooler in the centre console. Really.

The power-to-weight ratio of this thing is ridiculous, that a machine this heavy could move this quickly and nimbly.

So all week long this was me – grrrrrRRRRR stomp brakes.

The interior materials and finishings inside are as good as it gets.

Like, look how the screen is seated into the leather dash.

My favourite feature though, was the impression this vehicle makes. More here.

So. Into. It.
