The 2013 Hyundai Accent

Jun 23 2013

2013 Hyundai Accent GLS here

Starting at $13,749
This one $18,949

1.6L 4-cyl./ 6-spd automatic, providing with Power/torque: 138 hp/ 123 lb.-ft.

Short review: loved the lack of dashboard screen; the interior is ergonomic; and it’s a sporty ride that handles the same.

Favourite line:

This is a sub-compact, not a wizard car.

HAcomeon. Wizard car.

My point is: for what it sets out to do, and at what price, the Accent does it well; any more, and you may want too much.

Best USB Key I’ve Received Yet

Apr 29 2013

When you attend information sessions, auto-manufactures hand out USB keys loaded with specs and details about their new vehicles.  This is the best one yet.

I hung it in my lanyard collection.

The Anatomy of a Car’s Name

Apr 3 2013

Read it online on Autonet.ca.

Favourite line:

“Trim” is another word for features, finishings and options. To say a vehicle is “fully loaded” is to say the car has the highest trim level.

Piece together a vehicle’s name like this:

All-new > Year > Root Name > Size > Engine > Trim > Drivetrain

All-new 2013 Santa Fe XL 3.3L GDI V6 Limited AWD

I used morphology, ha!

Morphology – the identification, analysis and description of the structure of a language’s linguistics units.

Linguistics class paid off.  For the first time. Ever.

Off to California with Hyundai

Mar 18 2013

I’m flying out early Monday morning to San Diego, to test Hyundai’s all-new 7-seater Santa Fe.

Remember I had a Santa Fe a couple weeks ago? It was to give myself a benchmark.

That’s their 2 rows-of-seats SUV, which AJAC awarded the best of the year (one of the higest honours in Canada).

No screen, nice.

They’ve extended the length, and added in another row of seats to make it a 7-passenger people mover, and with Hyundai’s only V6 SUV engine.

I’ll be staying beneath that red roof, and will hopefully get to drive across that awesome bridge.

I land mid-afternoon, and then will be 3 hours behind you.

Hope your week gets off to a strong start, TTYS!

xo Keri

UPDATE: Got to drive over the bridge.

About Matte Paint Jobs

Feb 20 2013

Matte paint is en vogue right now. Looks great, but it’s high maintenance because it’s a porous paint.

But it does broadcast the driver has a disposable income, to both purchase and maintain it.

Read it online here.

 Favourite line:

The car can only be washed by hand ,… and never again can the car be run through an automatic wash.

Below is BMW’s ‘Frozen’ paint.

So pretty, no touching.

Very few manufacturers offer a matte paint option. Mercedes also does a beautiful job.

And so does Hyundai!

The only manufacturer to offer a matte paint on a non-luxury car.

Available on the Veloster for $800-ish; that’s thousands less than the ones you see above.
