Driving in a Roundabout

Jan 8 2014

If you feel nervous: don’t be shy to put on your hazard lights and let the other drivers know you’re new to this.

Just remember…

The 1 Rule of a Roundabout:
never brake inside one

Read it online at Autonet.ca

Favourite line:

Remember there are hundreds of thousands of roundabouts being used in Europe right now, some 4 lanes wide, and there’s no way they’re all better drivers than you – you got this.

Turns out roundabouts are a touchy topic, 73 comments, not bad.

Below is a video of me driving inside a roundabout.

I’m driving a GMC 2500 HD Denali in the States. There’s a video over at Motoring TV.

Tips on Arriving in a Hired Car

Dec 18 2013

There’s several things to consider when hiring a car during this holiday season.

  • limos are try-too-hard
  • don’t cram in passengers, it creates a clown car effect upon arrival
  • complete all monetary transactions before arriving
  • tip the attendant who opens the door – $2 is average, a $5 bill is classy

Read it online at Autonet.

Favourite line:

Be mindful of your outfit when exiting, as it easily drags across the door jams covered in winter sludge. Do this, and now you’re walking into the party covered in the mark of amateur hour.

A/C & Heater on Together Trick

Nov 12 2013

See – I’ve got the heat cranked, but the air conditioning is on at the same time?

Seems counter-productive, but the cabin heats up, while the dampness is removed from the air.

Sharing some Driving Tricks, Part 1

Sep 25 2013

Sharing some of my favourite driving tricks with you. Like, that little arrow beside the gas tank on the fuel gauge tells you which side the tank is on.

Read it online at Autonet.ca

Favourite line:

“My hazard button invention – using it to maintain a protective bubble of space 360º around you”.

Also, the blue circle – “it’s hard to get annoyed with someone smiling at you”.  Ha, just a little social engineering there.

See how I ended with an invitation to contact me?  It worked well, so many great emails; I’m going to do this topic again.

Make More Eye Contact while Driving

Sep 19 2012

Making more eye contact – as both a driver and pedestrian – makes safer roads.

Favourite line:

It’s easy to forget about the human manning the machine, when really, that’s the only thing we should be paying attention to.

And:

How simple was that to make someone happy?  A flick of the wrist.
