dermaglow and the Lightbox and NO Scent

Jun 5 2011

dermaglow is a decade-old Canadian company that produces skin care products really well.

Last week they threw a party to launch their latest line, and I helped celebrate!  It was a sunny afternoon, at the top of the TIFF Lightbox, look how beautiful.

Hiya Casie!

Click here to read her post, especially the meta part, ahaha oh I love meta.

I’d love some, thanks. And it was SO good.

When have you ever heard me talk about or recommend food here…. never, exactly, THAT good. Oliver & Bonacini.

I accidentally matched the decor.

Meet Solen, Product Development Manager, the lady on the right. Her accent is so pretty, and during her presentation the Twitter stream was filled with such comments. There’s a lot of science in action; they’re inserting molecules into other ones, so the inside ones don’t touch your skin. I know.

Did you know some companies add wax? Dermoglow has no parabens, articial frangrances, dye or soap.

Yup NO SMELL. You know how I feel about smells.

Now meet founder Jerry Smith, welcome to my bloooog.

60% of their products have anti-aging agents, and they have SPF products, so important people please: remember to wear a lot of sunscreen this summer.

This is their The Essential Line – 6 core items formulated as the first step in skincare. 4 cleansers and 2 moisturizers, 3 of which ought to cover you just fine… 1 exfoliator, 1 cleanser, 1 moisturizer ($45).

I ran a test this weekend, just their stuff. Conclusion: my skin is happier, bouncier, if you will. And my skin is sensitiiiive, I have some bad stories.

Coming soon is their newly re-designed packaging, keep your eyes peeled around early fall. Minimal, white and blue, I like it ;)

Try my Invention ‘Morning Drive’

Jun 4 2011

I invented it 10 years ago. It’s very fun, the many I’ve introduced to it agree.

The rules of ‘Morning Drive’ are:

1 – Soon as your eyes open, it’s out-the-door in 30 seconds

2 – Settle into your car, first stop coffee

3 – That’s it. Go meander. Plot. Concentrate on your surroundings, what’s changed, what’s happening today. Make phone calls, design your day.

Here’s a shot of the satelitte farm.

If you watch TV in the GTA, it likely came through here.

Here’s the route in the video, final destination is Cherry Beach.

Here’s me doing the voice over work, which I neither like, nor am particularly good at.

Try it, you’re gonna love ‘Morning Drive’.

It’s the Game Myst, IRL

May 30 2011

Do you remember the computer game Myst?

It was a big deal game… oh wait wait…. it was a game changer ahahaha.

But it was, it propelled CD-ROM sales. It also really got under my skin, and remains to this day one of the few games I’ve bothered to complete.

Technically this is a water treatment plant… that washes half of Toronto’s water daily!

Did you know Toronto’s tap water is some of the best in the world? Vancouver’s is really good too.

This weekend was Doors Open Toronto, and this is the RC Harris Water Treatment Plant.

It’s neeeever open to the public (or blog girls with big smiles) … that’s why I went. Along with the whole city; parking took forEVER.

Designed in 1929 and opened in 1941, it’s applauded as Toronto’s “supreme masterwork of Art Deco building”. So beautiful, eh?!

This place is special, I’m telling you.  Go for a walk there if you ever can.

I’ve blogged about this place many times, and I filmed the episode Exploring Canadian Blogging here.

And this other time I filmed myself skipping around here in a tutu, ha.

A Previous 'Doors Open Toronto' Day

May 29 2011

I went to the HMCS York Naval Reserve Base with Ryan for an episode of The Canadian Explorer back in 2009.

It was a great day!

He filmed too, here’s his version of the days events.

Go Navy!!

Exploring a Hell Hole

Jan 24 2011

This was a failed Canadian Explorer exploration, actually, one of my first.

There is a place in Ontario where there are naturally-formed caves, and you can go visit them and embark on a 3km nature walk.

The owner wasn’t into being on the internet.

Not their fault, things were different… it was 2007.
