The All-new 2014 Nissan Rogue

Nov 19 2013

Read my full review here on Autonet.ca. Liked it a lot.

It’s the finishings, though, where the Rogue outshines the competition. The instrument plastics are smooth, and the fake-o carbon fibre looks sharp, but it’s the soft-touch material found on all surfaces that really makes a difference. It may not translate in print, but it does in real life.

It’s a 2.5 L engine producing 170 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque, and the vehicle will tow 1,000 pounds (like a jet ski).

To call it sporty is a stretch, but it’s not supposed to be; the Rogue is a utility vehicle, and it does that well.

Buy the SV trim, the middle one, and forget the third row, it’s too small to be functional. As I said in my review, “It’s tiny; I barely fit, and I’m the size of a troll doll”.

But why I declared it the leader of the compact-SUV segment, is because of Nissan’s invention – the The Divide-N-Hide cargo area. Love it.

Contain wet items in the floor,
so they don’t infect the whole load.

Then Tetris the pieces around in the back,
you can really OCD out.

Bet this will be copied by the competitors.

I tested the Rogue in Nashville, here’s the post about that trip.

That’s their football stadium, LP Field.

And that’s Mark Richardson, photobombing my entire test video.

HAHA that’s good footage. Motoring TV has it right now, will link it up when it’s online.

Starting up a Pagani Huayra

Nov 18 2013

One of the world’s best cars.

Built in Italy, less than 100 will be produced.

$1.8 million

It’s a twin-turbo 6.0L Mercedes AMG V-12 engine,
outputting 730 hp and 740 lb.ft
top speed is 370 km/h
0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds

Busy interior eh.

I got the key mwah.

Huayra is pronounced: wai-rah. Say it with a Hawaiian accent. It’s Quechua, the official language of the Inca Empire, and translates to “God of the winds”.

This is the all carbon-fiber model.

Of course I turned this moment into a blog header.

It was Pfaff who brought the car to town, its first time on North American soil.  Thanks for having me guys.

The 2014 Cadillac CTS Launch Party

Nov 14 2013

The CTS is often called “GM’s best car”, and has a huge fan base.

I can’t say much more, I’ve not yet driven it.

The car won’t be released until the end of this year, so details are not final.

2014 Cadillac CTS (USA site)
Starting at $50,895 -ish

2 engines: 2.0L Turbo 272 hp / 3.6L V6 321 hp

I can confirm it was a great party and crowd, and packed.

Hosted at the Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto, GM shut down University Avenue the Sunday before, to crane the car onto the roof, ha. See photos of that on George’s blog, the PR guy at GM.

PR pals: that’s a custom-bow-tie-making-station, that went over really well.

Ran into the Motoring TV gang, welcome to my blog guys!

That’s Motoring cameraman Paul Reid, and ahaha, ha that photo.
