Some Car Carnage to Tide you Over

What an unbelievable experience. A 28 hour whirlwind. A tour into a once-in-a-lifetime place then boom, I’m back to familiarly, hi hi from jogging pants and the couch.

It was … difficult to put into words. My head is stuffed with information, and I feel a bit overstimulated to be honest. I’ve been sitting here typing furiously for a few hours, trying to document everything I just inhaled before it starts fading… drafted a post, coming soon.

But first it’s deadline day tomorrow, unpack, then zone out and surf garbage on the internet for a minute.

I’m beat. Not tired, not experiencing sleep deprivation (which I like actually), but a deeper, to-the-bone tired. Like, ‘declined 2 trips to New York City’ tired. Like, after flying in last week I was half-way home, stopped at McDoanlds, back on the highway, totally forgot I no longer live downtown and drove there instead, a 45 minute mistake at 1am. Like that.

I’m fine, happens, this is probably post #6 that reads like this over the years. If we met on the street right now, you’d be meeting a very dumb, puffy version of myself.

But that’s never a mind to be writing about security and cars.

I’m fine, it’s just publishing a daily blog, plus 4 newspaper deadlines per week (which is considered a lot), it just all caught up to me. Finished this crazy travel streak on a high note though, my Ford Edge review might be my best review to date – read it here.

But now I’m home for the foreseeable future, and didn’t even book a press car this week to lighten my load. After I hit publish I have to restock my fridge (my 1st power failure was Saturday), then I’m going to hold down the couch tonight, and play this:

How I Spent my Christmas Vacation

Quietly. In jogging pants, securing the couch.

Laughed a lot. First Christmas in my new house! And it was nice to have a break from blogging, thanks for being understanding.

Hung out with my neighbours. Who was aghast I’d never seen the movie, ‘A Christmas Story’ and made me watch it.

Surprised by how much I laughed, “it’s a serious award.”

The arrow is pointing at the oddest movie moment I’ve seen in a while – Mickey Mouse is attacked and pushed out of the parade. The movie was made in 1983, can’t see that happening today.

May not remember taking some of these.

1 – New Years Eve
2 – playing YouTube DJ. My neighbours make fun of my “spirit fingers” when I dance. They’re right.
3 – backyard shooting competition after the movie, because Red Rifle.

I’ve not seen that Frozen movie, but when I Googled it this character is the happy guy on the street, so that’s a nice compliment.

Read a lot of car manuals, and messed around trying to load files into infotainment systems.

Staying in Vacation Mode this Week

I’ll update a bit, but I’ve been really into vacation-mode for the first time. I even had a nap on December 27! A _nap_.

So I’m going to stay like this till next week, keep the same schedule as the rest of the world really. It’s a normal work-week over at the newspaper, and will update a bit here, but other than that, I’m waving hi from the couch and that’s that!
