Monday is Car Swap Day

Jun 4 2012

I’ve seen these fellas every Monday for the past four weeks.

That’s me, Robert (General Manager) and Richard (President), hi guys welcome to my blog!

I’m at BHG Media Fleet, one of Canada’s premiere press car and fleet management companies. They’re a class act.

And because they manage a variety of car brands, I’ve been able to return here each Monday, but not today.

Today was a trek… downtown Toronto to Mississauga, then Mississauga to Markham, a 60km journey involving six different buses. Uh-huh.

Luckily, SO luckily, I met Mike at BHG and he kindly drove me to Markham. Thanks, Mike!

We talked cars and the internet along the way, and get THIS: he does not own a cel phone.

Neat eh, because as I’ve harped on you before:  it’s good to take breaks from online.

Arrived in Markham at Honda’s Canadian headquarters, and picked up this week’s car, a Honda Civic SI.

It’s standard YES. Haven’t shifted gears since last fall.

See how simple and clean the interior is?  This is a driver’s car.

If you hear excessive and superfluous engine revving this week, wave hi as I blur by, wink.

Lastly – apologies for the heavy car-themed-posts these days, but I’m working on something here.

That’s all I’m going to say for now; you know how jinx-y I am.

TTYT

Hashtags, Hacks and Hair

Jun 3 2012

Hope you had a great weekend, too!

I made this yesterday; it analyzes my 8,500 tweets, and determines my most used hashtags (most discussed topics) on Twitter:

Red arrow: Top 5 hashtags

  • #Security
  • #VW
  • #SundayCleaning
  • #ThursdayNight
  • #Toronto

(via TweetStats)

Here I am #FixingTallVenetianBlinds during #SundayCleaning

That’s two hacks I invented this weekend!

  1. – a ladder
  2. – tissue in the door frame until I can weather strip (door rattles)

Poor ThisIsMyHack.com… it’s my most neglected blog, always lands at the bottom of the list when I sit down to polish one of them.

It’s also my first submission site, I’m excited to see how that turns out. I won’t be accepting any attachments, or clicking links to places I don’t recognize, I can tell you that for sure #security

#PlanetaryAlignment on Tuesday

Won’t happen again for 100+ years

If you’re in EST, look up starting at 6:30pm.

Still having hair anxiety.

Still upset at myself for caring so much about hair.

Made a new and more accurate, Twitter profile pic.

In other news.

And now this about to happen.

Here’s to a proper & productive start to your week!

Diamonds in Dundas Square

Jun 2 2012

Which building above is the most interesting in Dundas Square?

Cool eh; so inconspicuous and un-assuming.

Fact: diamond guys always want their windows to face north. North provides the best light for inspecting diamonds.

This was filmed inside the above building:

That’s Berge waving at the end, one of Canada’s premiere diamond setters.

This was back in 2009, when I was really into diamonds.

Remember Keith? He was the

“Official Gemologist to ‘The Canadian Explorer'”

Episode # 32/80 – Exploring Diamonds

30 carats of diamonds

Hi Keith!  Welcome back to my blog.

(click here and here and here for the original posts)

And there is your Toronto fact of the day!

Except I will never do a “Toronto Fact of the Day” collection, that sounds horribly boring.

As IF It’s the Weekend Already

Jun 2 2012

I tweeted a few weeks back: I think time goes faster in a big city, and that’s not good.

HOW is it already June?

Blogging is a good way to track time.  And it seems every month, the below moment comes faster and faster.

This is a screenshot of my file structure on my hard drive.

The “BLOG” folder is stuff for you, the “PHONE” folder is stuff for me.

Yesterday was dedicated to “Life Admin”.

I spent last night gloriously silent on my laptop, type type type, and a bottle of Pellagrino.

Friendly reminder: find me fastest on Twitter, never FB.  I just feed my Tweets into there so something shows up.

Then they move to here.

Why I feel compelled to always show you my desk, I don’t know.  So many desk photos on here, on ‘The Canadian Explorer’… remember that time my desk gave me mold poisoning?

Kay I’ve gotta get moving here.  Have a great Saturday, TTYL
