Shift You Later Civic, Sigh

Jun 12 2012

I love shifting gears, you know this.

Most press cars are automatic. So this week was real refreshing.

Shift, rev, peel, skip from 4th to 2nd, lots of superfluous revving just because I can.

I use the hazard button a LOT when I drive.

It find it more effective than brake lights alone.

See the pink arrow above? Note the positioning, the clear path from wheel to engaging the alert system? That’s how you know this is a drivers car – Honda Civic SI.

Shifting gears is easy, don’t be intimidated.

It’s like learning a little dance routine: depress clutch, shift with arm, release clutch. See? Easy.

Even in 5″ heels.

Had to give it back Monday to Honda Canada.

This week’s car, an Acura MDX.

Acura is the fancy, higher-end line of Honda.

It’s making me drive slower, like the Navigator did. I guess that’s good.

It Was a Quiet Weekend

Jun 12 2012

I haven’t felt like living online these last few days.

Happens. Always passes.

Saturday night looked like this.

Glued out, filtering photos while replaying and reviewing the week in my head. I think that’s important to do.

On Thursday I attended a Breast Cancer fundraiser for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

They’re a class act who do important research and run a tight ship. I’ve been inside plenty, the bell is the best part of the whole place ;).  Please give.

My BFF was the evenings’ keynote speaker, then she heated up the stage in the fashion show.

I said nothing online during her treatment, but too bad missy, I get this one time – your toughness is impressive, you wore cancer better than anyone, and I’m so happy you’re back love you.

Internet, this is my favourite cancer story: deep into her treatment her insurance company calls, they’re all confused; how was she at work this much, if she’s undergoing chemo, radiation and surgery? HA she’s that tough.

On Sunday, this.

It wasn’t until I pulled into the same industrial park that it hit me. Then I got all reflective and pensive.

That’s not my best profile pic is it, let’s change that. Done.  Here is the new one.

Classic Keri.  KeriCDN.

Recent outfits.

Picked up fresh flowers this afternoon.

I’ve kept fresh flowers around, long as I can remember. They make a place a home, and don’t have to cost a lot.

I like carnations actually, they’re colourful, cheap and last 2 weeks.

And that concludes this blog post.

Sorry For the Un-Updated Yesterday

Jun 7 2012

Been crushing my keyboard, just not with public stuff.

It’s a challenge juggling blog jobs… keep it afloat with content, keep it afloat with logistics, planning and executing, travel, maintaining a steady internet connection, physical maintenance of my tools , this thing is supposed to make money how, and that’s not even the tip of the iceberg.

I love it.

This is neat: if you watch TV in the Toronto area,

it likely comes through here, Telesat,

down in my beloved Cherry Beach.

Stay clear of these for a while too, the ‘Service Ontario’ kiosks, they were hacked today.

Cleaning up an identity theft is far more involved than a credit card; use a human teller until they get their machines secured.

Also – change your LinkedIn password… they were hacked Tuesday.

Me Today & Me Yesterday

Great action shot, eh.

It’s SO NICE to be shifting again, I haven’t since the fall.

Thanks for the PEN, Olympus.

Hope you had a great #ThursdayNight, best night of the week!

Get out there and crush your Friday, TTY on Twitter.

Wash Your Car This Saturday for CF

Jun 7 2012

Yesterday I attended the kickoff party for the

9th Annual CARSTAR National Car Wash for Cystic Fibrosis

happening this Saturday June 9 2012.

How cool are these rear windows!

This is dirty car artist Scott Wade. All originals, and it was a single-day exhibit.

I just had to know.

Hm hm hmm, let’s go look at the tools.

Of course I found Ford here.

These events are always great for running into friends.

That’s Dan, Reggie and Shannon, always great seeing you guys! xo

Go get your car washed on Saturday, it probably needs it anyway.

There are locations everywhere. No seriously… how have  I never noticed a CARSTAR before? When I scrolled through their Southern Ontario cities, they’re in like, all of them.

Good luck breaking your $2 million goal, #SoapsItUp!

It’s Very Important to Look Up Tonight

Jun 5 2012

Tonight is the ‘Transit of Venus’,

one of the rarest planetary events in our solar system.

You’ll see Venus pass across the sun tonight.

It will look like this.

It will start during these times, and last for 6.5 hours.

This will not happen again till you and I are long dead, in 2117.

This phenomenon happens in pairs, separated by more than 100 years. The last one occurred in 2004 and next pair in 2117 and 2125.

I’ve had this event in my calendar for three years.

(Venus and Earth are the same size)

Things are really kicking off up there.  There was a solar eclipse a few weeks ago, yesterday was a full moon, remember when I told you the planets aligned last May?

I subject you to planetary alignment posts from time to time, it’s important.

For such a logical girl, I’m really into this stuff.

Why?

My thinking is: all previous civilizations tracked them, why not ours, we can’t possibly think we’re all there is, that everything you see is all that exists.

The Egyptians dedicated their entire country to constructing buildings to track such things.  Think you’re smarter than them?  We’re not.

That’s why one of my very first Canadian Explorer episodes was about the planets.

Episode 2/80 – Exploring Deep Space aired August 2007

(note: the gentleman in the red shirt, Dr. Terry Bridges, discovered 6 dwarf galaxies in our galaxy, so cool)

My recommendation to you is to make a wish tonight, and make it big – it’s called a dream for a reason.
