Such a Nice Saturday! This is My Face!

Hi!

Finally some sun this week eh, least it came on the weekend.  Buds are out on the trees now – proof of spring.

And isn’t this parking spot confusing?

I didn’t get a ticket, , it’s on Bathhurst and Niagara, now you know.

I’m blogging here while this song is jammed in my ears, then going to kick around downtown this afternoon.

Went to a Chilean Wine Tasting at the Spoke Club Tuesday, hosted by Notable TV. They’re soon launching in multiple Canadian cities, and if you live there, go attend their events, they’re great.

There’s footage of me saying something like that, “I like these things because it’s a good crowd, no douche bags”. I probably shouldn’t go on camera after tasting wine on an empty stomach.

It’s Pam, Casie and Karly! Always good seeing you, ladies.  Here’s Casie’s (better) blog post about the event.

Then we snuck out, Irish Goodbye as she calls it.

In other news, next weekend we’re hosting CUTC – the Canadian Undergraduate Technology Conference, pumped.  This crowd will like my Skynet jokes, ha.

And that’s right, thought computing!  It is the future, you heard it here first.

You’ve heard me go on and on about it over the years…. like in My 2012 Prediction and other times when I’ve blogged about Canadian company InteraXon… one of the world’s leading thought-control-computing companies.

They were at the Olympics last year, fast forward to 0:43 below and I’ll explain them a bit.

It’s UFC day!

I’ve had it in my calendar forEVER. Definitely more excited for this than yesterday’s wedding.

The best part won’t be the actual event, it’ll be the aftermath…. everyone hopped up on testosterone and adrenaline, rolling outta there thinking they’re GSP… the city’s gonna be nuts tonight.

Kay getting offline now, TTYL!

Have a great night

Happy Birthday OOK Incorporated

My company, OOK Incorporated, is 3 today!

I bootstrap the crap out of it; it’s the only way I think. Throwing money at something seldom makes it better, necessity is the mother and all that. That’s why I’m always wary when someone hands me a business card but has no elevator pitch … that’s $30 you could have left in the bank, earning interest, la la la.

OOK’s first financial transaction was writing a cheque to charity, because one of my favourite sayings is, “start as you mean to go on”. The sun came out strong the exact second I typed that.

The goal is a third / third / third…. that’s taxes / me / charity… to divide up earnings.

Anyway, I’m rambling becasue I’m like a proud parent here, and I’ll leave you with this…

OOK —–> oh oh kay, all capitals, it’s an acronym for … wait for it …

Order Of Keri.

I know.

Let's Talk About 'The Canadian Explorer'

If we are just meeting you may not know that I had an internet show for 3 years and 80 episodes called The Canadian Explorer.

I believe Canada is THE best country to live in but, not since the 70s have we had a nationalistic fervour, so I set to celebrate Canada in effort to change that, and it was awesome.

I was CBC’s inaugural made-for-web show, got up to some hijinx, and worked my way up to an accredited journalist for Canada’s largest independent broadcaster when they shipped me out to the Olympics to cover them for Sun Media and Canoe.ca.

Then I realized I got as far as one girl can on her own (I did everything myself… shoot, edit, produce, and I’m all self-taught) and decided to shut it all down on a high note.

And that’s where Episode 80 comes in.

It’s a highlight reel episode I’m in the midst of editing, summing up three years of my life into one video.  And not gonna lie, I’m finding it tough.

It’s a lot to squish into 8 minutes eh, your past three years.  Plus it’s an end, which is never easy.  Every single day all for all that time all I thought about was this project, everything I did furthered it.  I have over 15 000 hours in it yup.

For example – see all this Canada stuff:

In the past I would have collected a few items, some for further episodes, some for thank you gifts for ones I’d filmed, some for a random Canadian fact I could use to blog about.

I know SO much about Canada… you know what I was thinking would be fun?

To get together with a tour bus company and have them drive me around while I yell facts from the top of their double decker bus.  Of course I would make a video, “Keri’s Canadian Tour of Toronto”.

Because I am a great Toronto tour guide.

Anyway, here’s what editing Episode 80 looks like, and click here to see more screenshots of what editing looks like, it’s neat.

PS – here’s the Google result for “the canadian explorer” AHAHAHAHA ha.
